Mumbai: In a move that signals India’s automotive future is getting more “digital twin” than “twin exhaust,” JSW Motors has announced a strategic long-term partnership with Dassault Systèmes to accelerate the development of next-generation mobility solutions in the country.
The collaboration will see JSW Motors adopt Dassault Systèmes’ advanced 3DEXPERIENCE platform as the digital backbone for its upcoming portfolio of New Energy Vehicles (NEVs). In simpler terms, before a single bolt is tightened on the factory floor, these vehicles will already have lived a full virtual life — designed, tested, and optimized in the digital world.
At the heart of this partnership lies a modular and scalable architecture that will support multiple vehicle formats across NEV platforms. Powered by applications like CATIA and ENOVIA, the system promises faster development cycles — because in today’s auto race, speed isn’t just about 0-100 km/h anymore, it’s also about how quickly you can go from idea to ignition.
The manufacturing side is also getting a serious upgrade. With the integration of DELMIA solutions, JSW Motors aims to streamline operations, improve efficiency, and reduce its carbon footprint. Think of it as a factory that not only builds smarter cars but also behaves a little smarter itself — using resources wisely and wasting less.
Commenting on the collaboration, Ranjan Nayak, CEO of JSW Motors, highlighted the company’s vision of creating a technology-led mobility ecosystem that is engineered in India but built to global standards. He emphasized that leveraging world-class digital platforms will help accelerate development timelines while enhancing product quality — essentially making sure Indian engineering doesn’t just keep up with the world, but occasionally overtakes it.
Deepak NG, Managing Director, India at Dassault Systèmes, noted that the Indian automotive industry is at a critical turning point. With the rise of software-defined vehicles, managing complexity has become as important as building horsepower. Through the 3DExperience platform, JSW Motors will be able to create virtual twins of products and processes, enabling end-to-end integration from design to lifecycle management.
Beyond the tech jargon lies a clear ambition: building a globally competitive automotive ecosystem rooted in India. By combining local manufacturing strengths with cutting-edge global technologies, JSW Motors is aiming to deliver vehicles tailored for Indian needs while strengthening supply chains and boosting domestic value creation.
The partnership also includes the deployment of a comprehensive Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) ecosystem and a Manufacturing Execution System (MES), ensuring seamless digital continuity and traceability across operations. In other words, every component, every process, and possibly every coffee break in the factory might soon be tracked — all in the name of efficiency.
As India’s automotive landscape shifts gears toward electrification and intelligent systems, this collaboration positions JSW Motors as a serious contender in the future mobility race. And if everything goes as planned, the next generation of Indian vehicles might just be born in the cloud before they ever touch the road.
