Maruti Suzuki Goes Global Again: Victoris Sets Sail as ‘Across’, Targets 100+ Overseas Markets

Mundra / Pipavav / New Delhi:
India’s largest carmaker is once again thinking global—and acting on it. Maruti Suzuki India Limited has officially commenced exports of its premium SUV, Victoris, which will wear the more internationally friendly badge ‘Across’ in overseas markets.

The first batch—over 450 SUVs—has already sailed out from Mundra Port and Pipavav Port, marking the start of an ambitious export plan that spans over 100 countries and regions. Key destinations include Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa, where Maruti Suzuki believes the SUV’s blend of design, tech, and value will strike a familiar chord.

Made in India, Driven Worldwide

Globally sold as Across, the SUV stays true to Maruti Suzuki’s “Got It All” philosophy—combining intelligent technology, indulgent comfort, and futuristic styling. And yes, it travels with its safety passport fully stamped: 5-star ratings in both Global NCAP and Bharat NCAP. Not many SUVs can boast of being stylish, tech-loaded and globally safety-certified without breaking a sweat.

The Made-in-India SUV also enjoyed its moment under international spotlights when it was showcased to global audiences at the Japan Mobility Show 2025, subtly telling the world that India is no longer just a manufacturing hub—but a design and engineering force.

Exports on Fast Forward

Commenting on the milestone, Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director & CEO, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said the company’s export roadmap is firmly aligned with the “Make in India, Make for the World” vision.

In calendar year 2025, Maruti Suzuki exported over 3.9 lakh vehicles, emerging as India’s No.1 passenger vehicle exporter for the fifth consecutive year. The year also marked another headline moment—the company’s re-entry into Europe with exports of its first battery electric vehicle, the e VITARA.

The numbers tell an even stronger story. Between CY2020 and CY2025, while the overall industry’s passenger vehicle exports grew 1.43 times, Maruti Suzuki’s exports surged by an impressive 4.67 times. With Victoris/Across joining the global lineup, that growth curve is expected to look even healthier.

Why Victoris Matters

Launched in India in September 2025, Victoris quickly found favour with young buyers thanks to its wraparound design language, crafted interiors, and feature-rich cabin. Its popularity was further cemented when it clinched the prestigious Indian Car of the Year (ICOTY) 2026 award—an accolade that now travels with it across borders.

The Bigger Picture

With Victoris turning into Across, Maruti Suzuki is not just exporting a car—it’s exporting confidence, capability, and a clear message: Indian SUVs are ready to play on the world stage. And judging by the sails already unfurled at Mundra and Pipavav, this global voyage has only just begun.
