Mumbai: Mahindra & Mahindra, the world’s largest tractor manufacturer by volume, rolled into Agrovision 2025 in Nagpur with a fleet that wasn’t just powerful, but planet-friendly too. From CNG to ethanol to fully electric workhorses, Mahindra showcased a future where farming is cleaner, greener, and—thanks to Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari and Shivraj Singh Chouhan—very well-attended.
And yes, the tractors were the real stars, not the cabinet ministers this time.

A Fleet That Runs on Everything Except Excuses
At the exhibition, Mahindra unveiled its full lineup of alternative fuel innovations—each designed to slash emissions, reduce input costs, and boost farm productivity without asking farmers to compromise on power. Highlights included:
- CNG/CBG Tractor: Powered by compressed natural gas or biogas, based on the popular Yuvo Tech+ platform. Runs on CNG, CBG… and for those who like flexibility, even dual fuel (Diesel + CNG). It’s the tractor equivalent of a hybrid athlete—always ready, always economical.
- Ethanol Flex Fuel Tractor Engine: This machine runs on ethanol sourced from sugarcane, maize, husk, crop residue—essentially, whatever a good farm can produce. Perfect for a country where “waste not, want not” is still a practical philosophy.
- Electric Tractor: Built on the global Mahindra OJA platform, it delivers instant torque, near-zero noise, and the kind of efficiency that might make even urban EVs blush. With fast charging and reduced operating costs, it quietly redefines farm power—literally.
All technologies were developed at Mahindra Research Valley (MRV), Chennai, the company’s innovation powerhouse where engineers apparently work overtime to ensure farmers don’t have to.
Driving India Toward a Greener Horizon
Speaking about the showcase, Veejay Nakra, President – Farm Equipment Business, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., said the company is committed to leading India’s shift toward cleaner and smarter agricultural solutions. The display aligns with India’s journey toward net-zero carbon emissions by 2070, a goal that’s ambitious but increasingly achievable with alternate fuel technologies like CNG, CBG, ethanol, biofuels, and electric mobility.
Mahindra has already made notable progress in this space over the years, be it through CNG tractors, biogas tractors, or its pioneering demonstrations of clean, low-cost agricultural tech.
A Closer Look at Mahindra’s Future-Ready Machines
CNG/CBG & Dual-Fuel Tractors:
These machines offer reliability and reduced running costs, especially when paired with renewable biogas. Expect strong performance, higher comfort, and a significantly lighter environmental footprint.
Ethanol Flex Fuel Engine:
Designed for efficiency and sustainability, this engine lowers emissions and enhances energy independence. Plus, it allows farmers to use locally available ethanol—improving economics while reducing carbon footprint.
Electric Tractor:
A category-disrupting innovation, it offers smooth torque delivery, zero emissions, and flexible charging options including fast charging. It promises quieter fields and cheaper operations—possibly making it the only tractor that can work early mornings without waking half the village.
Diesel Still Here—But Cleaner and Meaner
Alongside the alternative fuel stars, Mahindra and Swaraj also displayed their trusted lineup of powerful, fuel-efficient diesel tractors in both 2WD and 4WD configurations, along with an array of implements designed to enhance productivity.
With Agrovision 2025, Mahindra didn’t just exhibit tractors—it showcased a vision where Indian agriculture becomes more self-reliant, sustainable, and technologically advanced. And if the buzz at Nagpur was any indication, farmers are ready to shift gears into a cleaner tomorrow—powered by Mahindra’s innovation engine.
