Chennai – Forget “slow and steady wins the race.” Citroën India has decided that even the safety car should be a headline act. As part of its audacious “Citroën 2.0 – Shift Into the New” initiative, the French automaker has joined hands with JK Tyre Motorsport as the Official Car Partner for the 28th edition of the JK Tyre National Racing Championship (JKNRC) 2025.
From August to November, spectators can expect not just wheel-to-wheel action from racers, but also a pinch of French flair—Citroën cars will storm the track as safety cars, star in stunt sequences, and maybe even out-drift the drivers they’re meant to be keeping in check.

Motorsport DNA on Display
Citroën isn’t a rookie in this arena. Its resume stretches back to 1931’s Rosalie and includes rally monsters like the Xsara WRC, C4 WRC, and DS3 WRC, steered by legends such as Sébastien Loeb. With 9 Drivers’ Championships and 8 Constructors’ titles in WRC, the brand knows a thing or two about going flat-out while keeping things glued to the tarmac.
Now, that DNA is being sprinkled onto Indian racetracks, proving that what works in Dakar or Monte Carlo can also spice up Coimbatore’s Kari Motor Speedway.
Leaders Speak (and Rev)
Shailesh Hazela, MD & CEO of Stellantis India, summed it up with a dash of motorsport poetry:
“Motorsport is where our vehicles are pushed to their limits—and where our engineering proves its mettle. Today, we’re proud to salute that heritage in India by partnering with JK Tyre Motorsport.”
Meanwhile, Sanjay Sharma, Head of Corporate Communication & Motorsport at JK Tyre, was equally revved up:
“Citroën, with its global rallying pedigree, is the perfect partner to add thrill and precision to the championship. Together, we’ll deliver high-octane experiences that will both entertain and inspire the next generation of racers.”
The Road Ahead (at Full Throttle)
The 2025 JKNRC season, which flagged off at the Kari Motor Speedway earlier this month, will race through three rounds before returning for the grand finale on 14–16 November 2025. Between checkered flags, Citroën will ensure that audiences never mistake the safety car for a snooze car.
Because in this championship, even the car that stops the race might just steal the show.
