Gurugram – JSW MG Motor India’s newly launched luxury brand channel, MG SELECT, has once again etched its name in the annals of automotive history. The MG Cyberster – the World’s Fastest MG Roadster – has set a groundbreaking record at India’s iconic Salt Lake. Demonstrating its remarkable performance, the Cyberster clocked the fastest 0-100 kmph acceleration in just 3.2 seconds at the Sambhar Salt Lake in Rajasthan. This milestone has been officially recognized by the Asia Book of Records and India Book of Records.
The record-setting feat was achieved by Mira Erda, the first Indian female racer to win internationally in Formula 4. This achievement builds upon MG’s longstanding tradition of innovation and excellence. The company’s legacy of speed dates back to 1931 when the ‘Magic Midget’ became the first 750cc car to surpass 100 mph, reaching an impressive 103.13 mph. In 1957, the EX181, based on the MG A, recorded a top speed of 245.64 mph at the Bonneville Salt Flats. Two years later, in 1959, a refined version of the EX181, equipped with a 1506cc supercharged twin-cam engine, elevated the record further to 254.91 mph.
