Munich, Germany – As the automotive landscape continues to evolve, BMW is driving forward with a series of major updates for Spring 2025. From extended electric ranges to powerful new engine options and cutting-edge digital features, the latest refinements are set to elevate the driving experience across multiple model lines.
BMW i5 and i5 Touring: More Range, More Efficiency
BMW’s all-electric i5 and i5 Touring models will see significant enhancements to energy efficiency. With the introduction of silicon carbide semiconductor components in power electronics, combined with low-rolling-resistance tires and aerodynamic alloy wheels, the i5 lineup now offers an extended driving range of up to 47 kilometers (WLTP). The BMW i5 M60 xDrive will also come with the M Sport package Pro as standard, while all 5 Series models will feature upgraded interior elements such as ambient lighting, a crystalline BMW Interaction Bar, lumbar support, and a Harman Kardon HiFi system.
BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé: Two New Variants for 2025
The 2 Series Gran Coupé lineup expands with two new powertrain options. The new entry-level BMW 216 Gran Coupé features a 1.5-liter three-cylinder petrol engine with 122 hp, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.9 seconds. Meanwhile, the BMW 223 xDrive Gran Coupé introduces a 218 hp mild-hybrid all-wheel drive system, achieving 0-100 km/h in just 6.4 seconds. Both models will roll out of BMW’s Leipzig plant from March 2025.
BMW X3 Welcomes a Powerful Six-Cylinder Diesel Option
The BMW X3 will gain a robust 3.0-liter six-cylinder diesel engine in the new X3 40d xDrive variant. With a combined output of 303 hp and 670 Nm torque, the vehicle will accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.4 seconds. Produced at BMW’s Rosslyn plant in South Africa, this addition reinforces BMW’s commitment to offering diverse powertrain choices across its premium SUV lineup.
Faster Charging for BMW Plug-In Hybrid Models
Charging times for BMW plug-in hybrid models will be significantly reduced, thanks to a boost in AC charging rates from 7.4 kW to 11 kW. This improvement applies to the plug-in hybrid variants of the BMW X1, 2 Series Active Tourer, 7 Series, and all BMW XM models, allowing for quicker, more convenient charging for everyday driving.
BMW Digital Key Plus: Expanding the Future of Keyless Access
From March 2025, the BMW Digital Key Plus will become standard in the BMW iX and select models. With this technology, up to 18 digital keys can be activated and shared, offering customizable access permissions. Apple users with iOS 18.4 or higher will enjoy enhanced functionality, including speed limitations for new drivers and remote parking controls via the My BMW app.
Introducing the Tyre Repair Kit Plus: Seamless Mobility After a Puncture
BMW is making roadside mishaps easier to manage with the introduction of the Tyre Repair Kit Plus. Set to be standard in select models, including the X1, X2, and iX, the kit enables drivers to temporarily seal punctured tires and continue driving up to 200 kilometers at speeds of up to 80 km/h. The solution provides an extra layer of convenience and safety for BMW owners.
Enhanced Features for BMW X5, X6, X7, and BMW M Models
Starting Spring 2025, the BMW X5 and X6 will come standard with adaptive LED headlights, while the X7 will include Parking Assistant Professional. Additionally, the M60i xDrive versions of these models will feature the M Sport package Pro, a Harman Kardon surround sound system, and sun protection glazing as standard. The BMW M5 lineup will also receive exclusive new upholstery options and refined interior elements, such as high-gloss black trim and premium switchgear.
New Alloy Wheel Designs for BMW 2 Series Active Tourer and X1
BMW continues to refine aesthetics with the introduction of 17-inch light alloy wheels in Star-spoke style 875 for selected BMW 2 Series Active Tourer and X1 models from March 2025.
Final Thoughts: A New Era for BMW in 2025
With these sweeping enhancements, BMW is reinforcing its position as a leader in premium automotive innovation. Whether through extended EV ranges, powerful new combustion engine options, or cutting-edge digital advancements, the brand’s Spring 2025 lineup delivers an exceptional driving experience tailored to a wide range of customers.
