Gurugram: Renault India has expanded the Triber range with the launch of the Triber 100PS, introducing the Renault Group Entry Platform (RGEP) in India for the first time. Priced from ₹7.84 lakh to ₹8.99 lakh, ex-showroom, the new version gets a 100 PS turbo-petrol engine producing 180 Nm of torque while retaining the Triber’s flexible seven-seat layout and sub-four-metre dimensions.
Renault says the Triber 100PS is substantially more than an engine upgrade. The vehicle has been re-engineered around the company’s new Renault Group Entry Platform, with changes covering engine management, cooling systems, structural components, suspension, braking and overall vehicle dynamics.
At the centre of the update is Renault’s Turbo TCe 100 petrol engine, producing 100 PS and 180 Nm. The company claims the torque figure is segment-leading, while certified fuel efficiency stands at 21 kmpl.
The new powertrain is supported by a Renault Engine Management System, or R-EMS, developed to balance engine response, performance and efficiency.

New RGEP architecture makes India debut
The Triber 100PS is Renault India’s first model to use the RGEP architecture, which the company says has been developed to accommodate different powertrain technologies and future regulatory requirements.
Renault has also revised several mechanical systems to accommodate the increase in performance.
Changes include revised suspension geometry, front and rear anti-roll bars, MTV damper technology, updated braking calibration and vehicle-dynamics tuning specifically developed for Indian road conditions.
Structural enhancements have also been made with durability and crash performance in mind.
One of the less visible but technically significant additions is a Brushless Direct Current, or BLDC, cooling fan. Renault says the technology allows more precise thermal management and improved energy efficiency. It is a component more commonly associated with higher-segment models, including hybrid and electric vehicles — proof that even cooling fans occasionally get promoted.
According to Renault, the collective changes are intended to improve stability, ride quality and driver confidence without compromising the Triber’s everyday usability.
Commenting on the launch, Francisco Hidalgo, Vice President – Sales & Marketing, Renault India, said, “The Triber 100PS is an important step in Renault India’s product roadmap and a strong expression of what our brand stands for: innovation that is practical, accessible and relevant to Indian customers. Following the recent introductions of the Kwid and Duster Adventure, it marks another milestone in our programme of 12 product interventions over 18 months, demonstrating the pace and intent behind Renault’s renewed momentum in India.
With 100 PS of power, 180 Nm of torque, flexible seven-seat modularity, certified fuel efficiency of 21 km/l and prices starting at ₹7.84 lakh, the Triber 100PS brings together the qualities Indian families value in one car: performance that gives confidence, practicality, efficiency and value. We believe it will strengthen the Triber’s position and broaden the appeal of the Renault brand.”
Dr. Vikraman Vellandi, Head – Renault Engineering, Renault Group India, said, “Developing the Triber 100PS required much more than integrating a new powertrain. Delivering 100 PS and 180 Nm of torque while retaining the Triber’s modularity, comfort and efficiency required the engine, thermal-management, structural, suspension, braking and vehicle-dynamics systems to work together as one package. The result is a responsive, stable and refined driving experience that preserves the practicality and accessibility customers value in the Triber.”
Five, six or seven seats remain part of the formula
Despite the extensive mechanical changes, Renault has retained the Triber’s defining feature: its modular cabin.
The Triber 100PS can be configured with seating for five, six or seven occupants, using removable Easy-Fix third-row seats and a slide-and-recline second row with one-touch tumble functionality.
Renault says the cabin offers more than 100 seating combinations. With five seats in use, luggage capacity can expand to 625 litres.
The vehicle also offers 23 litres of interior storage, roof rails capable of carrying loads of up to 50 kg and 182 mm of ground clearance.
Independent rear air-conditioning vents for the second and third rows continue to address one of the practical challenges of fitting seven occupants into a compact vehicle.
The Triber’s sub-four-metre dimensions and 1.0-litre petrol engine allow it to qualify for the 18% GST rate applicable to small petrol cars, according to Renault.
More than 2.5 lakh Triber vehicles have been sold in India, making the model one of Renault India’s key volume products.
Features include wireless connectivity and cruise control
Depending on the variant, the Triber 100PS is equipped with an eight-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system supporting wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Other available equipment includes a digital LED instrument cluster, automatic climate control, wireless smartphone charging, cruise control, rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlamps, push-button start and Renault’s Smart Access Card.
Exterior equipment includes LED projector headlamps, LED daytime running lamps and LED tail-lamps.
Six airbags standard
Renault says the Triber 100PS comes with six airbags and 21 safety features as standard across the range.
Depending on the variant, additional equipment includes front parking sensors, a rear-view camera with guidelines and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System.
The company has not positioned the 100PS version merely as a faster Triber, instead emphasising the mechanical and structural changes required to accommodate the additional performance.
Part of Renault’s wider India product plan
The Triber 100PS forms part of Renault India’s futuREady India strategy, under which the automaker plans to introduce new products, architectures and technologies tailored to the Indian market.
Renault has said the Triber follows the recent introduction of the Kwid and Duster Adventure and forms part of a programme involving 12 product interventions over 18 months.
By combining a more powerful turbocharged engine with the packaging that helped establish the Triber in India, Renault is attempting to widen the appeal of one of its most recognisable products without abandoning its core selling point: fitting seven usable seats into a remarkably small footprint.
The more important development, however, may sit beneath the familiar bodywork. As Renault’s first RGEP-based vehicle in India, the Triber 100PS also provides an early indication of the engineering architecture that could underpin the company’s next phase of products in the country.
