Gurugram: BMW India has opened pre-launch bookings for the new BMW X1 Long Wheelbase, ahead of its official India launch scheduled for August 21, 2026.
Bookings for the new luxury compact SUV opened at 3 pm on August 10 through BMW India’s authorised dealership network. Prospective customers can also register their interest through the company’s India website.
The new BMW X1 Long Wheelbase will be locally produced at BMW Group Plant Chennai, continuing the German luxury carmaker’s strategy of assembling several of its models in India.
BMW describes the upcoming X1 LWB as a larger and more spacious evolution of the X1, with a particular focus on rear-seat comfort, cabin space and technology.
According to the company, the model will be the longest and most spacious vehicle in its segment, with the extended wheelbase aimed at providing additional room for rear-seat passengers. That emphasis should be particularly relevant in the Indian luxury-car market, where being driven can sometimes matter nearly as much as doing the driving.
BMW has also said the new model will retain the brand’s driving characteristics while offering a more commanding road presence and greater everyday practicality.
The X1 has been one of BMW India’s key SUV offerings, and the company describes it as India’s highest-selling luxury SUV. The introduction of the longer-wheelbase version reflects the growing importance of space and rear-seat comfort in the premium compact SUV segment.
Customers can currently view highlights of the new BMW X1 Long Wheelbase and register their interest on the BMW India website.
With its August 21 launch, the X1 LWB will give BMW a fresh product in a competitive luxury SUV market where buyers increasingly expect compact dimensions, premium features and generous cabin space to coexist — preferably without requiring any compromises in the parking lot.
