Gurgaon: MINI has launched the Convertible Stardust Edition in India at an ex-showroom price of ₹62.90 lakh, introducing a limited-production version distinguished by an exclusive Sparkling Copper Grey exterior, champagne-toned detailing and a Union Jack-patterned fabric roof.
The model will be imported as a completely built-up unit and sold exclusively through the MINI India website. Deliveries have commenced immediately, although the company has not disclosed the number of units allocated to the Indian market.
Based on the latest-generation MINI Convertible, the Stardust Edition is powered by a 2.0-litre petrol engine using MINI TwinPower Turbo technology. It produces 204 hp between 5,000 and 6,500 rpm and 300 Nm of torque between 1,450 and 4,500 rpm.
Power is sent through a seven-speed double-clutch Steptronic Sport transmission. MINI claims the convertible can accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 240 km/h — brisk enough to rearrange a hairstyle before the roof has finished folding.
Hardeep Singh Brar, President and CEO, BMW Group India said, “The new MINI Convertible is the perfect car for those who are open to fun and also enjoy making a distinct lifestyle statement. With the ‘Stardust’ limited edition, we are dialing up that sense of exclusivity a notch higher. The thought behind this special car was to capture the shifting, indefinable colours of the sky at twilight – blending a deep dusk-grey paint with shimmering champagne details that mimic stardust. The Stardust edition is engineered for MINI fans who view their car not just as a mode of transport, but as a bold expression of individuality. It is a vehicle that remains magnificently rare by design, and even rarer on the road.”

Exclusive Stardust exterior treatment
The edition is finished exclusively in Sparkling Copper Grey metallic paint, complemented by champagne-inspired details and Vibrant Silver mirror caps.
It rides on aerodynamically optimised 18-inch JCW Rallye Spoke alloy wheels, also finished in Vibrant Silver. Other exterior elements include round LED headlights, a redesigned front grille, vertically arranged LED rear lights and a black rear handle strip carrying the model badge.
The headlights offer three selectable light signatures, while welcome and goodbye animations project the MINI logo onto the ground beside the car.
One of the Stardust Edition’s defining features is its black MINI Yours Soft Top, incorporating a woven Union Jack graphic as a reference to the brand’s British heritage.
The electrically operated roof can be fully opened in 18 seconds and closed in 15 seconds. It can be operated at speeds of up to 30 km/h and may also be partially opened by 40 centimetres to function as a sunroof, regardless of vehicle speed.
Boot capacity stands at 160 litres with the roof open and increases to 215 litres when the soft top is closed. It is not exactly removal-van territory, though that is rarely the point of a compact convertible.
OLED display and connected technology
The cabin follows MINI’s new minimalist design direction, with a circular high-resolution OLED screen serving as both the instrument cluster and central infotainment display.
Known as the MINI Interaction Unit, the display runs MINI Operating System 9, featuring an interface influenced by smartphone applications.
The “Hey MINI” voice command activates the MINI Intelligent Personal Assistant, which can control functions including navigation, telephone connectivity and entertainment.
The MINI Digital Key Plus allows a compatible smartphone to function as the vehicle key through the MINI App. Digital access can also be shared with other users along with their individual vehicle settings.
Additional equipment includes a head-up display, Harman Kardon surround-sound system, wireless smartphone charging, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, remote services, remote software upgrades, in-car weather information, teleservices and an intelligent emergency-call function.
A toggle-bar panel provides physical controls for the engine start-stop function, transmission selector, parking brake, audio volume and MINI Experience Modes.
The selectable modes include the performance-oriented Go-Kart Mode, efficiency-focused Green Mode and Vivid Mode. Each setting alters elements such as the display graphics, interior lighting and sound environment.
The cabin receives electrically adjustable sports seats upholstered in black Vescin, an artificial leather-free material containing recycled content. An Active Seat function is provided for the driver.
Safety and assistance features
Driver-assistance equipment includes cruise control and Parking Assistant. Comfort Access automatically locks or unlocks the vehicle when it detects the key within approximately 1.5 metres.
Standard safety equipment comprises front passenger and side curtain airbags, anti-lock braking, Brake Assist, Cornering Brake Control, Dynamic Stability Control, a crash sensor, three-point seatbelts, a rear-view camera and a tyre-pressure indicator.
The vehicle also receives MINI’s MINIMALISM technologies, including automatic start-stop, brake-energy recuperation, active cooling-air ducts and electromechanical power steering.
MINI is offering a standard two-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty and two years of round-the-clock roadside assistance. Both benefits are transferable to subsequent owners.
Service packages begin at three years or 40,000 kilometres and may be extended to as much as 10 years or 100,000 kilometres. Extended warranty coverage is also available from the third year for a maximum tenure of 10 years.
BMW India Financial Services will offer the MINI 360-degree financing programme, which includes assured buy-back options, flexible end-of-term choices and the option to upgrade to another model.
The ₹62.90 lakh price includes applicable GST but excludes road tax, registration charges, Tax Collected at Source, insurance and other local levies. The final price applicable will be the one prevailing at the time of invoicing.
With its limited availability, distinctive colour treatment and open-top configuration, the Stardust Edition is aimed less at expanding MINI’s sales volumes and more at reinforcing its position in India’s lifestyle-oriented luxury-car market. In a segment where individuality is often an expensive optional extra, MINI has made it the central feature — and put a Union Jack on the roof for good measure.
