Hoshiarpur, Punjab: Sonalika Tractors has crossed a major manufacturing milestone by rolling out its 20 lakhth tractor from its integrated manufacturing facility in Hoshiarpur, Punjab. The achievement coincides with the company’s 30-year journey and highlights its continued expansion in domestic and international markets, where it exports tractors to more than 150 countries.
The company said the milestone reflects three decades of investment in farmer-focused engineering, manufacturing capabilities and export growth. The Hoshiarpur facility, which Sonalika describes as the world’s largest integrated tractor manufacturing plant, has grown from producing just two tractors a day in 1996 to rolling out one tractor every two minutes today—a pace that would make even a stopwatch work overtime.
Sonalika’s manufacturing operations have also played a significant role in transforming Hoshiarpur into a major tractor manufacturing hub. According to the company, it has built an extensive ecosystem of manufacturing support partners around the facility, contributing to the industrial development of the town while supporting production for India’s domestic market and global exports.
The manufacturer said quality remains a key focus across its production process. The plant uses robotics and automation in manufacturing, while every tractor undergoes multiple rounds of testing and validation before reaching customers. Sonalika also noted that the facility is equipped to manufacture every component of its tractors in-house.
Speaking at the milestone celebration, Dr. Amrit Sagar Mittal, Vice Chairman, International Tractors Limited, said:
“It is an emotional moment for us as we celebrate the legacy defining 20 Lakhth tractor production milestone at our World’s Largest integrated tractor manufacturing plant at Hoshiarpur, Punjab. What began as a bold vision has evolved into a symbol of India’s manufacturing excellence and our technological capability in a town with just over 18Lac population. It is a celebration of a belief that has guided us for 30 years — the prosperity of farmers is the foundation of a stronger nation. This achievement belongs to millions of farmers who have trusted us, and inspire us to continue building an even brighter future for agriculture.”
Dr. Deepak Mittal, Managing Director, International Tractors Limited, said:
“The roll-out of our 20 Lakhth tractor strongly emphasizes Indian engineering expertise and on how far it can travel across diverse geographies and agri conditions when driven by vision, innovation, and execution excellence. What began in Hoshiarpur three decades ago today powers farmers across 150+ countries, establishing Sonalika as a globally respected brand and India’s No.1 tractor export brand. While we take pride in this achievement, we remain focused on accelerating growth, deepening our international footprint, and creating the next chapter of global leadership powered by innovation, agility, and execution excellence.”
Addressing employees and stakeholders during the event, Raman Mittal, Joint Managing Director, International Tractors Limited, said:
“From forging the raw steel at our plant to conquering the toughest terrains on earth with our tractors, every heartbeat of our factory is fuelled by the spirit that no matter how far we grow, our purpose remains deeply rooted to ensure prosperity of the hands that feed the world. By 100% manufacturing everything in-house, every tractor we roll out carries the strength of our in-house capabilities and the precision of world-class technology that together deliver the spirit of ‘Jeetne Ka Dum’ to farmers. We broke the boundaries of what a small town could achieve, and we will not stop until every farmer is armed with the absolute best of Indian engineering. We are even more determined to power the next chapter of farmer’s growth and committed to ‘Powering Dreams: From Hoshiarpur to the World’.”
Founded in 1996, Sonalika has steadily expanded its manufacturing footprint and export operations over the past three decades. The company says its tractors are designed to meet the requirements of farmers across diverse agricultural conditions in India and international markets.
The production of the 20 lakhth tractor represents more than a numerical milestone for Sonalika. It underscores the increasing global presence of Indian agricultural machinery manufacturing and reflects the growing role of technology, automation and export-oriented production in strengthening India’s position in the global farm equipment industry. As manufacturers continue to scale operations, such milestones also highlight how regional industrial centres like Hoshiarpur are contributing to India’s manufacturing ambitions.
