Tata Tiago EV Creative+ Review: India’s Practical Electric Hatchback With A Clever New Glow-Up

The Tata Tiago EV is not trying to be a spaceship on wheels, and that is exactly why it works. Launched in 2022, the Tiago EV has become one of India’s most successful electric hatchbacks, with more than 75,000 units sold so far. What you see here is the 2026 first-generation facelift model, and more specifically, the top-spec Creative+ variant.

This is an Indian electric hatchback built for people who want EV ownership without needing to sell ancestral land, take three loans, and explain to relatives why their car has more screens than their living room. Prices for the Tiago EV start from around ₹7 lakh ex-showroom and go up to ₹10 lakh for the top variant. Tata also offers the regular Tiago in petrol and CNG forms, starting from ₹4.69 lakh, but this EV version is the one that quietly tells fuel stations, “It’s not you, it’s me.”

There is also a Battery as a Service option, under which the Tiago EV’s entry price comes down to ₹4.69 lakh, with a battery EMI of ₹2.6 per kilometre. That makes it one of the most accessible electric cars in India, especially for buyers who want to move into EV ownership without the full upfront battery cost.

Tata says the Tiago EV has been developed under its affordable electric mobility solutions strategy. In simple English, that means Tata did not chase unnecessary drama here. The focus is not on breaking Nürburgring lap records or making your neighbour faint with 900 horsepower. The Tiago EV is about affordability, practicality, low running costs and everyday usability. In India, that is not boring. That is survival with air-conditioning.

Design: Cute, Clean And Now More Modern

The 2026 Tata Tiago EV facelift gets a cleaner and more premium-looking design while retaining the familiar Tiago shape. It is still compact, friendly and city-ready, but now with a sharper EV personality.

At the front, the Tiago EV gets a Sporty Wide Lower Grille, giving the small hatchback a broader visual stance. The automatic Lux Beam LED headlamps come with LED DRLs, high beam alert, follow-me-home and approach functions. These are the kind of features that make the Tiago EV feel more premium than its price tag suggests. Earlier, such things were usually reserved for cars whose brochures used words like “executive lifestyle” and “commanding presence” a bit too often.

The car also gets rain-sensing wipers, which are especially useful in Indian monsoons, where rain does not fall — it attacks. The shark-fin antenna comes with GPS, while the electrically adjustable and auto-folding outside mirrors also get integrated turn indicators.

Along the sides, the Tiago EV carries cosmo grain textured wheel arch cladding and chrome line door handles. The design remains simple but tasteful. It is not shouting for attention, which is good, because in a hatchback this size, too much aggression can look like a gym trainer trapped inside a schoolbag.

Dimensionally, the Tiago EV measures around 3.8 metres in length, 1.7 metres in width and 1.5 metres in height. It also has a 5.1-metre turning circle, which makes it ideal for tight city lanes, crowded markets, office basements and those parking spots where the security guard says, “Aa jayegi sir,” while your bumper silently prays.

This car is finished in Dehradun Dew Green, a colour that suits the EV character nicely. Other colour options include pink, blue, grey, black and white.

At the rear, the facelift brings halo lightbar connected tail lamps, giving the Tiago EV a more modern identity. You also get a rear defogger and rear wiper with washer, both very practical additions in real-world Indian conditions.

Wheels, Tyres And Suspension

The Tiago EV gets 14-inch hyperstyle steel wheels. These are not fancy alloys, but they are practical, durable and more affordable to maintain. At the front, the car gets disc brakes, while the rear uses drum brakes.

Tyre duty is handled by 175/65 R14 86T Apollo Amazer XP extra load radial tubeless tyres at the front and rear. The extra load rating is a welcome touch, especially in India, where a hatchback is expected to carry five people, luggage, snacks, water bottles, shopping bags and sometimes one emotional family argument.

The suspension setup includes independent lower wishbone McPherson dual-path struts at the front and a twist beam setup with hydraulic shock absorbers and coil springs at the rear. This is a tried-and-tested layout for compact hatchbacks and should offer a good balance between ride comfort, handling and durability.

Cabin: Practical, Familiar And Better Equipped

Step inside and the Tiago EV Creative+ feels like a proper modern city car. The cabin gets soft-touch fabric upholstery and a Fabricia Luxe Dashboard, which gives the interior a more premium feel. Tata has also used cosmograin textured pillar trims made with 20 percent recycled plastic components. That is a nice sustainability touch and also a reminder that being environmentally aware does not always need to come with a lecture and a bamboo toothbrush.

The front seats come with Ergo under-thigh support, which is useful for longer drives. The driver seat is 6-way adjustable, helping different body types find a comfortable driving position. The Tiago EV also gets electrically power-assisted steering, making it easy to drive in the city.

There is a Sportluxe steering wheel with controls for phone, volume and voice commands. Cruise control is also available, which is a nice feature for highway drives. The driver gets a digital island instrument cluster, which keeps the EV-related information easy to read.

The car also gets driver-side one-shot power window operation and iToggle window controls. These small convenience features matter in daily use. Nobody buys a hatchback because the window switches have changed their life, but when they work well, you quietly appreciate them.

The Tiago EV also gets fully automatic temperature control AC with air filter and pollen filter. For Indian cities, this is a very relevant feature because sometimes the air outside has the texture of political debate — thick, uncomfortable and impossible to ignore.

There is also a cooled glovebox, a day-night inside rear-view mirror and a 240-litre boot. That boot space is enough for regular grocery runs, small weekend luggage and the mysterious extra bags that appear after every family trip.

Infotainment And Connectivity

The Creative+ variant gets a 10.24-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system. It supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, along with USB, FM and radio. Lower variants get an 8-inch infotainment system.

The Tiago EV also gets a 4-speaker surround sound system. It may not turn the car into a concert hall, but for a compact hatchback, it should be more than enough for podcasts, music and the occasional “EV silence plus old Bollywood playlist” combination.

A major highlight is Tata’s iRA.ev connected car app. Through the smartphone app, owners can access more than 40 features including car lock/unlock, car location tracking, remote horn, AC on/off, geo-fencing, time fencing, valet mode, headlight on/off, driving score, charging station locator, vehicle status, charging history, roadside assistance and more.

This makes the Tiago EV feel genuinely connected. You can check the car’s status, manage charging and even pre-cool the cabin before entering. In Indian summers, remote AC is not a luxury feature. It is emotional support.

Safety: Big Improvements For A Small EV

The 2026 Tiago EV facelift is packed with safety features. It gets six airbags, ABS, EBD, rear parking sensors, a 360-degree HD camera, Blind View Monitor, electronic stability program, seatbelt reminder, traction control, Hill Hold Control, Passive Entry Passive Start, isolated tyre pressure monitoring system, ISOFIX child seat mounts, central locking and 3-point ELR seatbelts.

That is a strong list for a car in this segment. The 360-degree camera and Blind View Monitor are especially helpful in city driving, where scooters, cycles, dogs, auto-rickshaws and pedestrians can appear from angles even geometry teachers would not approve of.

The Tiago EV also gets a 360-degree impact protection body structure. The motor and battery pack come with IP67-rated protection, which means they are protected against dust and water ingress. Tata has also equipped the car with a liquid-cooled thermal management system, which helps maintain battery temperature and long-term performance.

Performance: Not Fast, But Quick Where It Matters

The Tata Tiago EV is a front-wheel-drive electric hatchback with a 1-speed automatic transmission. Since it is an EV, there are no gearshifts, no clutch pedal and no engine noise. You just press the accelerator and the car moves ahead smoothly.

Two battery pack options are available.

The larger 24 kWh lithium-ion battery pack comes with an electric motor producing 73 horsepower and 114 Nm of torque. This version can accelerate from 0-60 kmph in 5.7 seconds and has a claimed top speed of 122 kmph. The claimed range is 285 km.

The smaller 19 kWh lithium-ion battery pack comes with an electric motor producing 60 horsepower and 110 Nm of torque. It does 0-60 kmph in 6.2 seconds, has the same 122 kmph top speed and offers a claimed range of 226 km.

These figures are not designed to impress supercar owners. They are designed to make city driving easy. And in real-world urban use, instant torque matters more than top speed. The Tiago EV should feel quick at traffic lights, smooth in stop-go traffic and relaxed during short highway runs.

There are two drive modes: City and Sport. City mode is for efficiency and everyday driving, while Sport mode sharpens the response. Use Sport mode when you want a little extra punch, or when the cab driver next to you believes his diesel sedan is participating in a drag race.

The Tiago EV also gets four levels of multi-mode regenerative braking. This allows the driver to adjust how strongly the car slows down when the accelerator is lifted. It also helps recover energy and improve efficiency. Once you get used to regen braking, normal braking starts feeling like old technology — like CDs, wired earphones or people reading full instruction manuals.

Charging: Easy Enough For Daily EV Life

Charging flexibility is one of the Tiago EV’s biggest strengths. Tata provides a 3.3 kW AC wall box charger free with the car, which is a practical ownership benefit.

Using a regular 15-ampere plug point, the Tiago EV can charge up to 90 percent in around 8.7 hours. With a 3.3 kW AC charger, it takes around 6.9 hours to charge up to 90 percent. With a 7.2 kW AC charger, the time drops to around 3.5 hours for 90 percent charge.

For faster charging, a 30 kW DC fast charger can charge the Tiago EV from 10 to 80 percent in around 35 minutes. That is quick enough for a tea break, a snack stop and one argument about whether EVs are really the future.

For most users, overnight home charging will be the easiest solution. Plug it in at night, wake up to a charged car, and avoid fuel pumps completely. That alone is a major lifestyle upgrade.

Ownership And Warranty

Tata is offering a strong warranty package with the Tiago EV. The battery pack gets unlimited kilometre lifetime warranty for the first owner. For the second owner, the battery warranty becomes 8 years or 1.60 lakh km. The motor also gets 8 years or 1.60 lakh km warranty, while the vehicle warranty is 3 years or 1.25 lakh km.

This kind of warranty support is important because EV buyers still worry about long-term battery health. Tata’s warranty coverage should give buyers more confidence, especially first-time EV owners.

The Tiago EV is also exported to several countries, showing that this is not just a domestic experiment. It is part of Tata’s larger electric mobility push.

Accessories: Tata Has Thought Of Almost Everything

Tata offers a wide range of accessories for the Tiago EV. These include door edge guards, 3D ceramic coating, car humidifier, air purifier, steering cover, ventilated seat plus massager, windscreen sunshade, neck rest, car inverter, floor mats, screen guard, car charger, key cover, flask, heated blanket, bicycle carrier, pet sheet, umbrella, speakers, rear seat entertainment, logo projector, wireless charger, microfibre cloth, vacuum cleaner, car cleaning kit, tyre inflator, car tracking device, dash cam, air freshener, first aid kit, tissue box, plastic bin and more.

Basically, Tata has provided accessories for almost every kind of owner — the practical owner, the cleanliness-obsessed owner, the pet parent, the road-trip lover, the gadget fan and the person who believes a car must contain half their house.

Practicality: This Is Where The Tiago EV Makes Sense

The Tiago EV’s biggest strength is not one feature. It is the total package.

It is compact enough for crowded cities, affordable enough for many first-time EV buyers, easy to charge, and practical enough for daily family use. It has a usable boot, comfortable front seats, decent infotainment, good connected features and a strong safety package.

Instead of chasing unrealistic luxury, Tata has focused on the basics. And that is a smart move. India does not need only expensive EVs with giant battery packs and lounge-like rear seats. India also needs small, efficient electric cars that can handle school runs, office commutes, market visits and weekend drives without drama.

The Tiago EV does that job well.

Verdict: A Small EV With A Big Role

The 2026 Tata Tiago EV Creative+ is not perfect, but it is very relevant. It is not the most powerful electric car, not the most luxurious and not the longest-range EV. But it is affordable, easy to drive, well-equipped, safe and genuinely practical.

In many ways, the Tiago EV represents the most important kind of electric mobility for India — not the glamorous kind, but the useful kind. It brings EV ownership closer to mainstream buyers and does so without making the car feel like a compromise.

With prices starting around ₹7 lakh, a top variant around ₹10 lakh, more than 75,000 units already sold, lifetime battery warranty for the first owner, strong safety equipment and practical charging options, the Tiago EV has become one of India’s most important electric hatchbacks.

It is the kind of car that quietly changes habits. You stop visiting petrol pumps. You start planning charging like phone charging. You enjoy silent starts. You appreciate instant torque. And suddenly, a small hatchback starts feeling like a very sensible preview of the future.

The Tata Tiago EV may not shout about revolution, but it is helping create one — one affordable electric hatchback at a time.
