MG Holds Its Ground at 6,048 Units in May 2026, Launches Majestor Amid Global Supply Chain Turbulence

Gurugram: While global supply chains continue to behave like a traffic jam during rush hour, JSW MG Motor India managed to keep its wheels turning steadily. The automaker reported wholesale dispatches of 6,048 units in May 2026, navigating a challenging business environment marked by supply chain disruptions, rising commodity costs, and surging freight tariffs.

The month was particularly significant for the company as it rolled out its newest flagship SUV, the MG Majestor, positioned as India’s first D+ segment SUV. Dealer dispatches of the premium SUV commenced immediately after its launch, adding fresh momentum to MG’s product portfolio.

Priced at ₹40.99 lakh (ex-showroom) for the 4×2 Automatic Top Trim in both six- and seven-seater configurations, the Majestor aims to target buyers seeking luxury, space, and commanding road presence. The range-topping 4×4 Automatic Top Trim carries a price tag of ₹44.99 lakh (ex-showroom) and is available in a seven-seat layout.

Industry experts note that maintaining stable sales volumes in the current environment is an achievement in itself. Global automotive manufacturers continue to face challenges related to component availability, logistics bottlenecks, and higher input costs. Against this backdrop, MG’s ability to sustain dispatches reflects the company’s efforts to strengthen manufacturing resilience and supply chain management.

The launch of the Majestor also signals MG’s intention to expand its footprint in India’s premium SUV market, a segment that continues to attract strong customer interest despite broader economic uncertainties.

JSW MG Motor India, formed through a joint venture between China’s SAIC Motor and India’s JSW Group in 2023, has been focusing on creating a smart and sustainable automotive ecosystem in the country. The company says it remains committed to increasing localisation, introducing advanced technologies, and strengthening domestic manufacturing capabilities.

As the automotive industry navigates one challenge after another, MG’s latest sales performance suggests the company is determined to keep moving forward. And with the Majestor now entering dealerships, MG appears to be sending a clear message: when the road gets bumpy, launch a bigger SUV.
