Majestor Enters Production in India as MG Bets Big on Premium Off-Road SUVs

If Indian roads weren’t already crowded with SUVs trying to look “majestic,” JSW MG Motor India has now decided to bring the real thing. The company has officially commenced production of the MG Majestor at its Halol facility in Gujarat, positioning it as India’s first-ever D+ segment SUV — and by the looks of it, this one arrives with enough road presence to make smaller SUVs nervously check their mirrors.

The MG Majestor isn’t just another chrome-heavy urban warrior pretending to be adventurous. MG says this flagship SUV has been engineered with serious off-road credentials, featuring an advanced 4WD system and segment-first triple differential locks at the front, rear, and centre. In simpler terms, while most SUVs today are designed to conquer mall parking ramps, the Majestor seems genuinely interested in climbing mountains afterward.

Under the hood sits a 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine producing a best-in-segment 215.5 PS and a muscular 478.5 Nm of torque. Combined with 10 selectable off-road modes, Crawl Control, and a substantial 219 mm ground clearance, the SUV appears ready for everything from Ladakh expeditions to surviving Indian monsoon potholes that occasionally resemble archaeological excavation sites.

MG is also claiming best-in-class dimensions, making the Majestor the longest, widest, and tallest SUV in its category. Add to that an 810 mm water-wading capability, and it sounds like the SUV may continue moving even when city traffic comes to a complete halt during heavy rains.

But the Majestor isn’t only about brute force. MG has packed the SUV with Level 2 ADAS features, advanced safety technologies, and premium interior appointments aimed at buyers who want luxury with their ladder-frame toughness. It’s essentially designed for customers who want to attend a business meeting on Friday and disappear into the wilderness by Saturday morning — without switching vehicles.

Commenting on the start of production, Biju Balendran, Deputy Managing Director, JSW MG Motor India, said the Majestor represents a major step in redefining the premium SUV segment in India. According to him, the SUV combines strong engineering, advanced capability, commanding design, and premium refinement, all built with stringent manufacturing and quality standards at the Halol facility.

The Halol plant continues to serve as a crucial manufacturing hub for MG in India, equipped with precision engineering processes and robust quality control systems to ensure durability and reliability under demanding driving conditions.

To further sweeten the ownership experience, MG is offering its “Complete Peace of Mind” package with the Majestor. This includes a 5-Year Unlimited Kilometre Warranty, 5-Year Roadside Assistance, and 5 Labour-Free Services. In a market where ownership anxiety sometimes begins immediately after the first service reminder, MG clearly wants customers to breathe a little easier.

Customers can now pre-reserve the MG Majestor for INR 41,000 through JSW MG Motor India. Early buyers will also receive priority deliveries, exclusive previews, and curated experiential drives.

With production officially underway, the MG Majestor is preparing to enter a fiercely competitive premium SUV battlefield. But armed with triple differential locks, imposing dimensions, and enough torque to rearrange landscapes, MG’s newest flagship certainly doesn’t seem intimidated.
