The company has announced a record-breaking 144 patent applications filed in FY26, marking its highest-ever annual tally in the commercial vehicles segment—because apparently, building trucks wasn’t challenging enough without also inventing the future alongside them.
Headquartered in Mumbai, Tata Motors’ latest intellectual property milestone reflects a sharp focus on engineering-led transformation. The filings span critical areas such as vehicle safety, reliability, total cost of ownership, and occupant comfort—essentially everything that makes long-haul journeys less about survival and more about sensibility.
But the innovation story doesn’t stop at patents. The company also filed 21 design applications and 35 copyright applications during the fiscal year, while securing 15 patent grants.
