ChargeZone Targets 1,000+ Supercharging Stations, Drives India’s EV Future into the Fast Lane

Vadodara: If range anxiety had a passport, it might soon be denied entry on India’s highways. ChargeZone has announced an ambitious expansion plan to deploy over 1,000 Dealer Owned, Company Operated (DOCO) supercharging stations across key national corridors by FY2027—effectively turning long-distance EV travel from a gamble into a glide.

Aligned with the Government of India’s PM E-Drive initiative, the rollout is supported by financing from State Bank of India, ensuring that the infrastructure push is not just fast—but financially fueled too.

From already electrified routes like Delhi–Mumbai, Bengaluru–Hyderabad, and Mumbai–Bengaluru, to expanding corridors such as Delhi–Chandigarh and Vizag–Chennai, ChargeZone’s network aims to cover the country’s busiest highways—basically where India drives, charges will follow.

At the heart of this expansion lies the DOCO model—think of it as the “franchise era” of EV charging. Landowners, entrepreneurs, and institutions can invest starting from ₹1 crore, while ChargeZone handles the heavy lifting of development, commissioning, and operations. In short: you bring the land, they bring the electrons.

Speaking on the initiative, CEO Kartikey Hariyani highlighted the growing need for robust infrastructure as EV adoption shifts gears beyond city limits. With charging capacities ranging from 500 kW to 1.5 MW, these stations are being designed to cater not just to passenger EVs, but also to the rapidly electrifying freight sector—because even trucks deserve a quick recharge between chai breaks.

To sweeten the deal for investors, ChargeZone has partnered with SBI under the EV Mitra scheme, offering loans from ₹10 lakh to ₹10 crore with repayment tenures of up to seven years. The inclusion of support mechanisms like CGTMSE ensures that even smaller players can plug into this high-voltage opportunity.

Meanwhile, sustainability isn’t taking a backseat. Under Project E-DHARA (Electrifying and Decarbonizing Highways through Accelerated Renewable Adoption), the company plans to integrate solar energy, battery storage systems (BESS), and high-speed chargers. The goal? 100% uptime—because nothing ruins a road trip like a charger that says “out of service.”

With India targeting 30% EV adoption by 2030 and allocating ₹2,000 crore for charging infrastructure under PM E-Drive, ChargeZone’s mega expansion could well become the backbone of the country’s electric mobility ambitions.

And if all goes as planned, the next time you hit the highway in an EV, the only thing you’ll need to worry about is… which playlist to choose.
