Maruti Suzuki Starts e Vitara Deliveries in India, EV Ownership Begins at ₹10.99 Lakh with BaaS Model

New Delhi — India’s largest carmaker has officially flipped the electric switch. Maruti Suzuki India Limited has commenced deliveries of its first all-electric SUV, the e Vitara, introducing an ownership-friendly Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model with an introductory starting price of ₹10.99 lakh plus battery usage cost from ₹3.99/km.

In typical Maruti style — where reliability meets practicality — the brand isn’t just selling an EV; it’s trying to sell peace of mind with a charging cable attached.

🔋 Ownership Designed to Make EVs Less Scary (and More Maruti-like)

The headline feature is the BaaS dual-loan structure, which removes the battery from the upfront vehicle cost and converts it into a usage-linked EMI.

Alongside this, the company has introduced the ‘e Flex’ scheme, allowing customers to switch to the electric SUV with EMIs comparable to their existing petrol or diesel cars — essentially telling buyers: “Go electric, not bankrupt.”

To further reduce anxiety:

  • 3-year / 45,000 km plan: up to 60% assured buyback value
  • 4-year / 60,000 km plan: 50% assured buyback

⚡ Battery, Range & Charging Ecosystem

The e Vitara is offered with two battery options — 61 kWh and 49 kWh, delivering a certified driving range of up to 543 km.

Charging support comes via Maruti’s expanding EV ecosystem:

  • Complimentary 7.4 kW AC home wall-box charger with installation
  • One-year complimentary public charging at Maruti dealer locations (limited units)
  • Access to charging discovery, scheduling and payment through the “e for me” app

The company says the EV will be backed by over 1,500 EV-ready service centres, trained Nexa EV specialists and dedicated charging managers nationwide.

🛡️ Warranty & Carefree Ownership Promise

Maruti is clearly aware that battery fear is India’s biggest EV debate topic. So it has come armed with long warranties:

  • Battery warranty: 8 years / 1.6 lakh km
  • Standard vehicle warranty: 3 years
  • Optional extension available up to 8 years

The introductory offers remain valid until March 31, 2026.

🚘 Safety & Technology: Playing in the Premium EV League

The electric SUV packs modern safety tech including:

  • Level 2 ADAS with adaptive cruise, lane keep assist, blind-spot monitoring and AEB
  • 7 airbags standard (including driver knee airbag)
  • Next-Gen Suzuki Connect with 60+ features

Built on the HEARTECT-e platform, the structure uses over 60% high-tensile steel and includes an advanced battery protection system. The model carries a 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating.

🏁 Bookings Open Nationwide

Customers can reserve the e Vitara at Nexa dealerships or online with a ₹21,000 booking amount.

🧭 Why This Launch Matters (The Bigger Picture)

For years, India’s EV market had flashy luxury options and budget city commuters — but very few mainstream, family-friendly electric SUVs with nationwide service backing.

With the e Vitara, Maruti Suzuki is effectively betting that:

India doesn’t just want an electric car.
India wants an electric Maruti.

And if history is any guide, when Maruti decides to enter a segment seriously, the rest of the industry usually starts checking their rear-view mirrors.
