World EV Day 2025: From Kilometres to Kilotons, India’s EV Industry Puts the ‘Charge’ in Charge Ahead

New Delhi — On World EV Day, India’s electric mobility leaders decided to swap silence for soundbites, ensuring that the buzz wasn’t just from the motors but also from their mission statements. With everyone from last-mile carriers to luxury OEMs and energy solution providers chiming in, the message was loud, clear, and ever-so-slightly electrifying: India’s EV revolution has shifted into overdrive.

Mahindra Last Mile Mobility: Trees, Tons, and Terrific Torque

Suman Mishra, Managing Director & CEO of Mahindra Last Mile Mobility Ltd., rolled out numbers that could make even an accountant’s heart race:

“Our 2.7 lakh+ electric commercial vehicles have clocked 4.5 billion kilometres, preventing over 185 kilo metric tonnes of CO₂ — equivalent to planting 4.3 million trees.”

Translation? If each tree came with WiFi, India would already be the world’s greenest hotspot.

JSW MG Motor India: Double the Sales, Double the Optimism

Anurag Mehrotra, MD of JSW MG Motor India, declared that EV sales have doubled in the first nine months of 2025. He thanked the government for progressive policies and hinted that connected tech and clean mobility now go together like samosas and chai:

“EVs resonate with customers thanks to intuitive technology, zero-emission driving, and disruptive innovations.”

Or in simpler terms: no smoke, no noise, just Bluetooth bragging rights.

Audi India: Luxury Gets a Charge-Up

Not to be left behind, Audi India brought premium glamour to the plug point. Balbir Singh Dhillon, Head of Audi India, reflected on the brand’s e-tron success and future roadmap:

“Electric mobility in India has witnessed steady demand and we believe the next decade will be transformative… our ‘Charge my Audi’ initiative gives access to over 6,500 charging points across the country, offering customers confidence and convenience.”

Translation: whether you’re in Connaught Place or Coimbatore, your luxury EV can sip electrons without range anxiety — just don’t expect valet to hand you a charging cable instead of car keys (yet).

Lauritz Knudsen: Charging Towards the Future

Naresh Kumar, COO of Lauritz Knudsen, plugged into the conversation with a focus on intelligent, scalable charging infrastructure:

“India’s mobility transformation is entering a decisive phase… this is not just about powering vehicles — it is about powering change.”

The company wants to put smart chargers in homes, offices, public spaces, and possibly anywhere else you could sneak in a coffee machine. Reliable, safe, and future-ready — essentially the opposite of most Indian WiFi connections.

The Road Ahead: Watt’s Next?

With leaders talking trees, tonnage, and technology, India’s EV ecosystem on World EV Day looked less like a quiet parade of silent vehicles and more like a full-throttle movement. Whether it’s Mahindra greening kilometres, MG doubling sales, or Lauritz Knudsen powering every socket in sight, one thing is clear:

The future is electric, and it’s charging faster than your smartphone on a 5% battery panic.
