If climbing sales charts wasn’t dramatic enough, Škoda Auto India decided to literally scale new heights—by sending its flagship petrol-powered SUV, the Škoda Kodiaq, on a Himalayan joyride to the Mount Everest North Face Base Camp. And no, it didn’t go there just for the mountain selfies.
In a feat worthy of both a Mahabharata-scale yatra and a European engineering flex, the Kodiaq became the first petrol SUV from India to reach the Tibetan side base camp of Everest. For its high-octane Himalayan adventure, the Kodiaq earned bragging rights in both the India Book of Records and the Asia Book of Records, proving once again that Škoda doesn’t just make SUVs—they make mountain goats with WiFi.

🚗 Petrol, Peaks, and Prestige
Traversing over 6,000 km through India, Nepal, and China—with altitudes higher than corporate ambition and temperatures lower than your last boss’s approval rating—the Kodiaq showed why it’s not just a city slicker in a Czech suit. It took on gravel, snow, rocks, and probably the occasional yaks with complete composure.
Ashish Gupta, Brand Director of Škoda Auto India, said it best:
“This achievement reflects the growing ambition of Indian customers to go farther and demand more from their vehicles.”
Translated loosely: If your road trip to Ladakh was your Everest, Škoda just redefined what Everest means.
📈 Meanwhile, Down Below…
While the Kodiaq was going up the mountain, Škoda’s sales were climbing too—reaching 36,194 units in H1 2025, a 134% growth over the previous year. With 300+ customer touchpoints across 172 cities, it seems they’re conquering both geography and consumer mindshare.
Celebrating 25 years in India and 130 globally, Škoda isn’t just content with asphalt—it’s paving its own road into automotive folklore, one mountain at a time.
From potholes in Pune to the peak of the world, the Škoda Kodiaq has just made it official:
This isn’t just an SUV—it’s a Summit Utility Vehicle.
