Bangalore:
If consistency were an art form, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) would be hanging in the Louvre by now. The automaker has once again cruised past the speed breaker of market uncertainty, clocking a 22% sales growth in May 2025—because when the going gets tough, the Fortuner gets going.
In numbers that would make even math teachers smile, TKM sold 30,864 units in May 2025, up from 25,273 units the same time last year. Domestic sales stood strong at 29,280 units, while 1,584 units were exported—presumably with a polite “Namaste” and a full tank.
Extending its joyride, Toyota posted a 27% growth in the first two months of FY 2025–26, selling 58,188 units. That’s more momentum than a Fortuner tackling a Himalayan incline.
Varinder Wadhwa, Vice President of Sales-Service-Used Car Business, credited the growth to loyal customers and a little help from the heavens. “With a good monsoon on the horizon, rural and semi-urban markets are shifting gears—and so are we,” he said, confidently riding shotgun with optimism.
Toyota’s MPV and SUV segments continued to do the heavy lifting, recording a 34% growth over April–May. With rising fuel prices and even higher expectations, the Fortuner and Legender proved once again that size—and style—do matter, proudly crossing the 3-lakh sales milestone in India. Somewhere, a Fortuner owner just raised their suspension in celebration.
Adding more garnish to the growth platter, Toyota launched the Innova HyCross Exclusive Edition, a hybrid MPV with 19 upgrades—because who doesn’t love a makeover that saves fuel?
All in all, Toyota isn’t just selling cars—it’s selling confidence, chrome, and cruise control. If May is anything to go by, 2025 might just be the year Toyota shifts from Reliable to Relentless.
