From Athens to Autobahns to India – Andreas Modlmayer Steers Into the Driver’s Seat at BMW India Financial Services

Gurugram: In a boardroom maneuver smoother than a 7-Series cruising down the Autobahn, BMW Group has announced the appointment of Andreas Modlmayer as the new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of BMW India Financial Services. Taking the wheel from Jaejoon Lee, Modlmayer is no stranger to high-performance transitions—having piloted BMW Financial Services through markets as varied as New Zealand, China, Hong Kong, and most recently, Greece.

With 25 years under the BMW Group banner, Modlmayer brings the perfect blend of Bavarian discipline and global flair to India’s rapidly evolving luxury auto finance space. His career, which began in the sales and marketing lanes of BMW Bank GmbH Munich, has seen him zigzag through continents with the precision of a Z4 on hairpin turns.

Lisa Ng, Regional CEO for BMW Financial Services Asia Pacific, welcomed the new MD with the enthusiasm of a rev-happy engine:

“Andreas brings a trunk full of global experience and strategic horsepower. His two-decade-long pit stop tour across continents will turbocharge our Indian operations. We’re thrilled to have him shift into gear here.”

As for Jaejoon Lee, he exits the Indian track with grace and a healthy dose of admiration. During his tenure, BMW India Financial Services didn’t just park itself in the market—it parallel-parked with precision, added value, and threw in assured buy-backs for good measure.

“We’re grateful for Jaejoon’s stellar contribution,” added Lisa. “His customer-first approach and innovative product offerings laid a strong foundation. Korea’s gain is India’s loss—although we suspect he’ll miss the butter chicken.”

BMW India Financial Services, operational since 2010 and headquartered in Gurgaon, continues to finance dreams on two wheels, four wheels, and sometimes, turbocharged fantasies. With services spanning Retail Finance, Commercial Finance, and Insurance Solutions, the company ensures every MINI, BMW, and BMW Motorrad finds a financially comfortable home.

Andreas now takes the helm in a market where customers are as passionate about EMIs as they are about engines. His next challenge? Navigating India’s potholes—not just on roads, but in credit scoring, while making sure BMW owners feel like royalty with BMW Smart Finance’s flexible plans and low monthly instalments.

From Greek gods to Gurugram roundabouts, it’s fair to say—Modlmayer’s Indian journey is all set to be a premium ride. Buckle up, India. The Beemer banker is in the building.
