Gurugram – In a world obsessed with going big, Hyundai’s i10 quietly did what few can—became everyone’s first love on four wheels. And now, the compact crowd-pleaser has officially burst past a colossal 3.3 million sales worldwide, proving that size doesn’t matter when you’re packing practicality, performance, and the ability to parallel park with grace.
Of the whopping 3.3 million units sold, over 2 million found happy homes across Indian households, while 1.3 million zipped off to over 140 countries—including South Africa, Mexico, Chile, and Peru—making the i10 one of India’s most successful exports since Bollywood drama and cricketing flair.

Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL), the export overachiever that it is, proudly maintains its title as India’s largest exporter of passenger vehicles. With more than 91% localization across domestic and export variants, the i10 is not just made in India—it’s practically made in your backyard (if you live near one of Hyundai’s plants, that is).
Unsoo Kim, Managing Director of HMIL, chimed in with pride, “Surpassing 3 million sales isn’t just a number—it’s a celebration of India’s engineering chops, our customers’ faith, and the sheer popularity of a car that’s become part of every second wedding procession.” He also hinted at expanding exports via the upcoming Maharashtra plant, because clearly, the world needs more i10s.
From its 2007 debut with dual airbags and ABS (when those were still considered luxuries), the i10 has grown through three avatars—i10, Grand i10, and today’s Grand i10 NIOS. Whether you prefer a manual, AMT, or the eco-friendly Bi-Fuel CNG version (for those who like their cars peppy and planet-friendly), there’s an i10 variant ready to woo.
The numbers tell their own story. The i10 has averaged over 1 lakh units annually in India, and in FY 24-25, nearly half its buyers were first-timers. And guess what? A whopping 83% of them were married—clearly, love for the i10 comes in pairs. Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Haryana lead the pack in sales, confirming that the NIOS is the new ‘niyat’ of Indian families.
With top-tier safety, wireless charging, and even cruise control packed into a pint-sized package, the Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS is basically a tech-loaded smoothie in a hatchback glass.
So here’s to the humble i10: the car that grew up with India—and took the world along for the ride.
