Toyota India Accelerates Karnataka’s Green Future with Third Plant Investment at GIM 2025

Bangalore: Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has reaffirmed its commitment to Karnataka’s sustainable industrial future with its participation in the Invest Karnataka 2025 Global Investors Meet (GIM), held at Bangalore Palace from February 11th to 14th. Under the theme ‘Reimagining Growth,’ TKM showcased its latest green mobility solutions and was honoured with an ‘Investment Certificate’ by the Government of Karnataka for its establishment of a third manufacturing plant.

This recognition celebrates TKM’s strategic investment announced in November 2023, aiming to enhance production capacity by 1,00,000 units annually and create 2,000 new jobs. The initiative underlines TKM’s role in driving Karnataka’s infrastructural development and sustainable growth, aligning with the state’s aspirations to emerge as a manufacturing and green technology hub.

Senior TKM executives, including Manasi N. Tata, Chairperson, Swapnesh Maru, Deputy Managing Director – Corporate Planning, Green Field Project, and Sudeep Dalvi, Chief Communication Officer & Senior Vice President, Head of State Affairs, led the company’s representation at GIM 2025. Their participation emphasized TKM’s advocacy for clean mobility, responsible industrialization, and sustainable manufacturing.

TKM is a key contributor to the Future of Innovation Pavilion at the event, showcasing cutting-edge xEV technology, hybrid and electric vehicle solutions, including the latest hybrid electric models like the all-new Camry and Corolla FFV-SHEV. The company is also a sponsor of VentuRISE, supporting startups focused on EV technology, clean mobility, and advanced manufacturing.

Reinforcing its dedication to sustainability and skill development, TKM hosted three immersive experience zones:

  • Sustainability Pavilion: Highlighting Toyota Environmental Challenge 2050 and green manufacturing initiatives at its Bidadi plant.
  • Green Technology Zone: Displaying hybrid and electric powertrains and showcasing Toyota’s latest innovations in low-emission vehicles.
  • Skill Development & CSR Initiatives: Presenting TKM’s contributions to the Skill India mission, including partnerships with ITIs and the Toyota Technical Training Institute (TTTI).

Speaking at the event, Ms. Manasi N. Tata emphasized, “Karnataka has been the bedrock of Toyota Kirloskar Motor’s journey in India. Our investment reflects our unwavering commitment to shaping a future driven by sustainability, innovation, and inclusive growth.”

Echoing this vision, Swapnesh R. Maru stated, “We see sustainability as a collective responsibility. Through our multi-pathway approach to carbon neutrality, we aim to create a future where progress and environmental harmony coexist.”

Sudeep Dalvi added, “The Government of Karnataka’s forward-looking policies have empowered us to contribute meaningfully to green mobility and skill development, positioning the state as a global manufacturing powerhouse.”

TKM’s 25-year journey in Karnataka has seen investments exceeding ₹16,000 crores, with an additional ₹4,000 crores currently being executed. The company has achieved 90% localization in key models like Innova and Fortuner, with its Bidadi plant powered by 100% renewable energy and maintaining a 96.4% waste recycling rate.

In line with its social commitment, TKM has trained over 2,975 students through partnerships with ITIs and developed 26 Centers of Excellence in colleges. The Toyota Ecozone initiative has educated over 40,000 students on environmental conservation, while afforestation efforts have resulted in the planting of 328,000 trees.

As TKM looks ahead, its investments in Karnataka continue to reinforce the state’s position as a global leader in sustainable manufacturing and green mobility. Through its active participation in GIM 2025, TKM strengthens its pledge to drive innovation, empower communities, and shape a future where economic growth and environmental stewardship go hand in hand.
