Gurugram, July 24, 2024 – In a major move to advance electric vehicle (EV) adoption in India, Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has announced a strategic partnership with Charge Zone. The collaboration aims to install DC 60 kW fast chargers at 100 Hyundai dealerships across the country. This initiative is a significant step towards bolstering the EV charging infrastructure, aligning with India’s push towards greater electric mobility.
Currently, HMIL operates 34 EV fast charging stations nationwide. With this new partnership, the network will expand significantly, enhancing convenience for EV users across various cities and highways. The MoU was signed by Jae Wan Ryu, Function Head of Corporate Planning at HMIL, and Kartikey Hariyani, Founder and CEO of Charge Zone, at the HMIL headquarters in Gurugram, Haryana.
Ryu emphasized the importance of a robust charging infrastructure to counter range anxiety and promote electric mobility. He stated, “Our strategic partnership with Charge Zone is pivotal in strengthening HMIL’s EV charging network. By equipping 100 Hyundai dealerships with DC 60 kW fast chargers, we are not only supporting Hyundai EV users but also benefiting all EV users through our accessible network available via the ‘myHyundai’ and ‘Charge Zone’ apps.”
Hariyani echoed this sentiment, highlighting Charge Zone’s commitment to providing a renewable energy-powered EV charging network. “This collaboration with Hyundai Motor India aims to ensure easy access and dynamic availability of charging stations, enhancing the overall EV charging experience,” he said.
Currently, 19 HMIL dealerships are equipped with DC 60 kW public EV charging stations. With the addition of 100 more stations, HMIL aims to offer a reliable and seamless charging experience backed by a 24/7 customer support system.
As part of its holistic EV roadmap, HMIL has invested in building an extensive EV charging network featuring DC 180 kW and DC 60 kW chargers. In addition to its dealership network, HMIL operates 15 fast charging stations across key cities and highways in nine Indian states.
HMIL has also developed a dedicated Charging Management System (CMS) platform, “EV Charge,” hosted within the “myHyundai” mobile app. This platform enables EV users across all OEM brands to locate charging points, book charging slots, monitor remotely, and make digital payments. Charge Zone’s network of chargers is integrated into this platform, providing a comprehensive solution for all EV users.
This partnership marks a significant milestone in India’s journey towards sustainable and electric mobility, ensuring that the infrastructure grows alongside the increasing demand for EVs.
