Concept Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed Unveiled as the First Model in the Exclusive Mythos Series

Radical Design Concept Debuts Amidst the Glitz of the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix

The Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed concept car has made a sensational debut, marking the commencement of the highly exclusive Mythos series. This expressive concept car, with its radical, open two-seater design devoid of a roof or windscreen, draws inspiration from the legendary aesthetics of racing cars. The world premiere took place on a floating pontoon during the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix, captivating attendees including Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team drivers Lewis Hamilton and George Russell.

Michael Schiebe, Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-AMG GmbH, highlighted the car’s appeal: “The Concept Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed offers a glimpse of the most direct way to experience performance and driving pleasure. Radically open, neither a roof nor the windscreen separate the two passengers from the elements. As the concept of our first Mythos vehicle, it embodies the highest level of exclusivity.”

The Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed combines pure racing car design, innovative materials, and cutting-edge technology. Limited to just 250 units, this exclusive model is aimed at the most ardent Mercedes-Benz enthusiasts and collectors. Its design pays homage to iconic race cars, merging unparalleled racing aesthetics with dynamic performance.

Halo System and Formula 1 Influence

A standout feature of the PureSpeed is the Halo system, replacing the conventional A-pillar. This component, derived from Formula 1, enhances driver safety by protecting the head in the event of an accident. The system includes specially designed helmets, providing occupants with a Formula 1-like field of vision and an unfiltered experience of the elements.

Design Echoes the Mercedes-AMG One Hypercar

The PureSpeed’s design takes cues from the Mercedes-AMG One hypercar, featuring a low silhouette and a combination of visible carbon fibre elements and rounded shapes. The wheels, with unique carbon fibre cladding, and the aerodynamically optimized front and rear sections, enhance performance and aesthetics.

Homage to Racing Legends

The design incorporates several nods to Mercedes’ rich racing heritage. The flying buttresses behind the seats recall legendary cars like the 300 SLR. The striking paintwork, transitioning from Le Mans red to graphite grey with a black AMG pattern, pays tribute to the victorious Mercedes car at the 1924 Targa Florio race. The number 10 on the front wings commemorates the historic win 100 years ago.

The Concept Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed stands as a testament to the pinnacle of exclusivity and performance, offering a thrilling preview of what the Mythos series has in store for automotive connoisseurs.
