Gaydon, UK – February 27, 2024: Aston Martin, the iconic British car manufacturer, has once again revved up the racing world with the launch of its new Vantage GT4. This latest addition not only completes the brand’s high-octane GT lineup but also solidifies its commitment to the motorsport arena, ranging from thrilling track days to the high stakes of Formula One.
Aston Martin’s new GT4 race car, developed alongside the newly minted Vantage GT3, is a speed demon’s dream. It boasts a slew of performance enhancements inspired by the latest Vantage road car. From improved aerodynamics to advanced cooling systems, this race car is all about maximizing performance while ensuring driver confidence.
Marco Mattiacci, Chief Brand and Commercial Officer at Aston Martin Lagonda, couldn’t hide his excitement. “The new Vantage GT4 is a born winner, mirroring the significant performance improvements seen in the sensational new Vantage road car. It’s a testament to the synergy between our road and race car programs, where class-leading power and technology on the road translate into race-winning pace on the track.”
Under the expert wing of Aston Martin Racing (AMR), the Vantage GT4 is a product of a legacy that dates back to the legendary DBR9. Sharing around 80% of its DNA with its road-going sibling, this race car is built on a bonded aluminum chassis, beefed up with a custom roll cage for safety, and powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine.
The race car’s electronics have been fine-tuned for peak performance, with a Bosch Motorsport ECU and bespoke software developed by AMR. The transmission, too, gets a racing makeover, transforming the eight-speed automatic into a six-speed paddle shift beast.
On the chassis front, the GT4 benefits from some regulation-driven modifications. The suspension points mirror those of the road car, with tweaks to accommodate the 18″ racing wheels and tires. The cherry on top? New two-way adjustable KW dampers, a product of AMR’s collaboration with the renowned suspension manufacturer.
Visually, the Vantage GT4 is a stunner, closely resembling the new Vantage road car. Its aerodynamics have been optimized using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), and it sports a larger front splitter and a new rear wing for increased downforce and reduced drag. Even its body panels have been given a sustainable twist, with the bonnet made from a natural flax fibre composite.
Having made its racing debut at the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge event at the Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona, the Vantage GT4 is now in full production. With more than 40 units slated for the 2024 season, Aston Martin is all set to continue its winning streak in GT racing.
For both professional racers and amateur enthusiasts, the new Vantage GT4 is a dream machine – fast, reliable, and primed for victory. This latest creation from Aston Martin is not just a race car; it’s a statement on wheels, ready to burn rubber and etch its name in the annals of racing history.
