In a move aligning with the increasing celebrity focus on environmental sustainability, renowned actor Suniel Shetty has recently expanded his vehicle collection by acquiring the MG Comet EV, his first electric car. This step highlights a growing trend among public figures to not only endorse sustainable practices but to actively incorporate them into their lifestyles.
The MG Comet EV, a battery-powered tallboy hatchback, was launched earlier this year as the second electric vehicle offering by MG in India, following the ZS EV. The car is available in three variants – Pace, Play, and Plush, with prices ranging from Rs 7.98 lakh to Rs 9.98 lakh (ex-showroom). Shetty has chosen the top-of-the-line Plush variant in a Starry Black color.
Demonstrating his enthusiasm, the actor shared a photo of his new electric vehicle on social media, captioning it “My first EV ‘The MG Comet’… love it!” MG Motor India responded to Shetty’s post, expressing gratitude and extending best wishes for his electric vehicle journey.
The Comet EV is equipped with a 17.3 kWh battery pack, promising a range of up to 230 km on a single charge. The car’s electric motor, mounted on the rear axle, delivers 41 bhp and 110 Nm of torque. The vehicle can be fully charged in about seven hours using a 3.3kW charger.
Notable features of the Comet EV include LED headlights and taillights, a dual 10.25-inch integrated digital screen setup for infotainment and instrumentation, keyless entry, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and over 55 connected car features. The safety package comprises dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child seat anchors, a reverse parking camera, and rear parking sensors.
Apart from the MG Comet EV, Suniel Shetty’s impressive car collection includes luxury vehicles such as the Mercedes Benz GLS 350D, Hummer H2, BMW X5, and Land Rover Defender 110, reflecting his passion for automobiles.
