Gurugram: JSW MG Motor India has launched a new advertising campaign for the MG Hector Tomahawk EV, drawing inspiration from the Tomahawk fighter aircraft used during World War II. Featuring two films titled Space and Range, the campaign highlights the electric SUV’s performance, spacious interiors and long-distance driving capabilities through a light-hearted conversation between a pilot and his daughter.
The campaign establishes a connection between the SUV and the Tomahawk fighter aircraft flown by the Royal Air Force during World War II. Rather than relying entirely on technical specifications, the films explore whether a modern electric vehicle can live up to a name associated with aviation history.
At the centre of the narrative is a pilot who initially questions whether an electric SUV deserves to carry the Tomahawk name. His daughter responds by introducing him to the vehicle’s features and capabilities, gradually turning his scepticism into appreciation.
The approach gives the campaign a distinctly human element, with a father-daughter exchange providing the humour while the vehicle makes its case.
Two Films Focus on Space and Driving Range
The first film, Space, focuses on the MG Hector Tomahawk EV’s cabin, highlighting its spacious interiors, premium appointments and futuristic design. The SUV’s exterior styling and road presence also feature prominently in the presentation.
The second film, Range, shifts attention to the vehicle’s long-distance capabilities, addressing one of the most frequently discussed considerations among prospective electric vehicle buyers: how far an EV can travel before requiring a recharge.
Together, the films aim to position the Hector Tomahawk EV as an electric SUV that combines performance with everyday practicality, passenger comfort and the ability to undertake longer journeys.
Commenting on the campaign, Udit Malhotra, Head of Marketing, JSW MG Motor India, said, “The MG Hector Tomahawk EV brings together powerful electric performance, spacious and comfortable interiors, and the range to take on longer journeys with confidence. Through this campaign, we wanted to bring these capabilities to life in an engaging and relatable manner, while showcasing how the SUV delivers on the legacy of its name. It reflects our focus on creating electric mobility experiences that combine performance, comfort and practicality for everyday driving and beyond.”
The campaign is currently running across SonyLIV and JSW MG Motor India’s digital platforms.
MG Hector Tomahawk EV: Battery, Power and Range
Beyond the aviation-inspired storytelling, the MG Hector Tomahawk EV comes with a set of specifications intended to support its performance and long-distance positioning.
Built on MG’s ADAPT platform, the electric SUV is equipped with a 69.2 kWh high-voltage MAGIC Battery and a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor. The electric powertrain produces 150 kW of power, equivalent to approximately 204 PS, and 310 Nm of torque.
The vehicle offers a certified driving range of 517 km on a single charge. As with other electric vehicles, actual driving range can vary depending on traffic conditions, driving behaviour, terrain and climate-control usage.
The Hector Tomahawk EV also supports DC fast charging at up to 90 kW, allowing owners to recharge the battery more quickly when using compatible charging infrastructure.
According to the company, the ADAPT platform combines electric performance with intelligent energy management, supporting the vehicle’s intended balance between efficiency and everyday usability.
Vehicle-to-Home Technology Adds Another Dimension
One of the Hector Tomahawk EV’s notable features is its Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) capability, which allows electricity stored in the vehicle’s battery to be used for external power requirements.
JSW MG Motor India describes the system as an India-first offering, enabling customers to power household appliances, outdoor equipment and even homes directly from the SUV’s battery.
The technology potentially expands the vehicle’s usefulness beyond transportation, allowing its battery to function as an alternative electricity source in supported applications.
However, the practical benefits of V2H technology depend on factors such as compatible equipment, installation requirements and the amount of energy available in the vehicle’s battery.
Introductory Price Starts at ₹13.99 Lakh
The MG Hector Tomahawk EV is available at an introductory price of ₹13.99 lakh, with Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) pricing starting at ₹4.90 per kilometre.
According to the company, the introductory offer applies to a limited number of bookings.
The BaaS arrangement introduces a usage-based battery payment component, offering customers an alternative pricing structure to consider when evaluating the overall cost of electric vehicle ownership.
Prospective buyers will need to consider the applicable battery usage charges alongside the vehicle’s purchase price when assessing long-term affordability.
Electric Mobility Meets Aviation-Inspired Storytelling
With its latest campaign, JSW MG Motor India is attempting to communicate the Hector Tomahawk EV’s capabilities through storytelling rather than a conventional specification-heavy advertisement.
The choice of a World War II fighter aircraft as inspiration provides an unusual backdrop for an electric SUV, while the father-daughter narrative offers a way to explain modern electric vehicle technology to a wider audience.
Ultimately, the campaign arrives as driving range, charging convenience, interior comfort and ownership costs remain important considerations for electric vehicle customers. For the MG Hector Tomahawk EV, the aviation connection may attract attention, but its performance, practicality and real-world usability will determine whether it can live up to the expectations created by its name.
