Pune: Mercedes-Benz India has launched the Mercedes-AMG G 63 ‘Offroad Pro’, a new limited-availability version of its high-performance luxury off-roader, priced from ₹3.80 crore, ex-showroom India. The new variant combines the familiar 585 hp V8-powered G 63 with AMG-specific off-road technology, revised suspension functionality and expedition-oriented equipment.
Described as the first ‘Offroad Pro’ version of the AMG G 63, the model receives AMG Active Ride Control suspension, along with exclusive AMG Traction Pro and AMG Active Balance Control functions designed to improve traction, axle articulation and stability away from paved roads.
It also gets a Professional roof luggage rack, removable rear ladder and distinctive 20-inch AMG five-twin-spoke alloy wheels finished in matte black, giving the already imposing G-Class an even more purposeful appearance.
Mercedes-Benz India said the vehicle will be offered in limited numbers, although the company has not disclosed the precise allocation for the Indian market.

585 hp V8 remains at the heart of the G 63
Power comes from Mercedes-AMG’s handcrafted 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine, producing 430 kW, or 585 hp, and 850 Nm of torque.
The engine is paired with a 48-volt mild-hybrid electrical system and integrated starter generator, which can provide an additional 15 kW of boost at lower engine speeds.
Mercedes-AMG claims the G 63 can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.4 seconds and reach an electronically limited top speed of 240 km/h.
Those are substantial numbers for any performance vehicle, let alone one shaped roughly like the automotive interpretation of a bank vault.
Power is sent through the AMG Performance 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system, while the AMG Active Ride Control suspension combines adaptive damping with active hydraulic roll stabilisation.
AMG Active Ride Control targets tougher terrain
The Offroad Pro’s biggest changes are underneath the bodywork.
AMG Active Ride Control supplements the standard AMG Ride Control suspension with active roll stabilisation tuned according to the selected driving programme.
On rough terrain, Mercedes-Benz says the system can provide either greater driving stability or increased axle articulation, helping the wheels maintain contact with the ground and improving traction.
The suspension is also intended to maintain ride comfort over uneven surfaces.
Two dedicated functions — AMG Active Balance Control and AMG Traction Pro — further expand the vehicle’s off-road capabilities.
AMG Active Balance Control
In the vehicle’s off-road driving programmes, drivers can adjust the roll stiffness of the AMG Active Ride Control suspension through three settings, ranging from Low to High.
The system allows the suspension behaviour to be adapted to prevailing terrain, with the aim of improving stability and wheel articulation when travelling off-road.
AMG Traction Pro
AMG Traction Pro operates with the vehicle’s Rock and Sand driving programmes.
Once activated, the system controls braking torque independently at each wheel to maximise available traction. Mercedes-Benz says the function can also help the vehicle work itself free when bogged down in surfaces such as deep sand.
Drivers can select the desired degree of locking across seven stages.
Expedition equipment added
The Offroad Pro is fitted with a Professional roof luggage rack featuring continuous aluminium panels. A removable rear ladder provides access to the roof area, allowing larger luggage or expedition equipment to be carried above the cabin.
The model also receives variant-specific 20-inch AMG five-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels, finished in matte black with diamond-turned rim flanges.
They are paired with 275/50 R20 tyres.
Familiar G-Class shape, AMG detailing
Despite the additional equipment, Mercedes-AMG has retained the recognisable G-Class silhouette.
AMG-specific elements include flared wheel arches, a redesigned front bumper with three vertical louvres, stainless-steel inserts and an aggressive front fascia. AMG crests are also incorporated into the bonnet and exterior mirror projections.
The combination preserves the squared-off profile that has defined the G-Class for decades, while giving the Offroad Pro a more expedition-focused character.
New off-road cockpit and Transparent Hood
Inside, the latest G 63 introduces a redesigned off-road cockpit, bringing key information and controls together across the driver and central multimedia displays.
The system can display vehicle positioning, compass information, altitude, steering angle, tyre pressures and temperatures, along with the status of the differential locks.
Drivers can also access the Transparent Hood function through the off-road menu. The feature is designed to assist visibility around obstacles immediately ahead of the vehicle when tackling difficult terrain.
MBUX NTG7, augmented-reality navigation
The G 63 Offroad Pro uses Mercedes-Benz’s latest MBUX NTG7 infotainment system, with 12.3-inch driver and multimedia displays.
Connectivity features include wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, USB-C ports and MBUX Augmented Reality for Navigation.
The augmented-reality system overlays graphical navigation instructions onto live camera images, helping drivers interpret directions in complicated traffic situations.
Nappa leather and 18-speaker Burmester audio
Despite the increased emphasis on off-road use, the cabin retains the luxury equipment expected of the AMG G 63.
The interior features Nappa leather upholstery, premium materials and a configurable ambient lighting system that extends to the air vents.
A Burmester 3D Surround Sound System uses 18 speakers and 760 watts of output, including an illuminated satellite loudspeaker integrated into the headliner.
Mercedes-Benz has also introduced additional insulation and acoustic glass as part of efforts to reduce noise and vibration inside the cabin.
Expanded driver-assistance technology
The latest G 63 receives a broader suite of driver-assistance and safety technologies.
Features include Active Brake Assist, Lane Keeping Assist and a 360-degree camera system, alongside other systems included in the vehicle’s technology package.
Mercedes-Benz says the updated assistance systems are intended to improve safety and convenience across both urban and long-distance driving.
A more specialised G 63
The G-Class has spent more than four decades balancing two identities: a serious off-road vehicle and, increasingly, a high-end luxury icon. The AMG G 63 added substantial performance to that formula, becoming one of the most recognisable models in Mercedes-Benz’s premium portfolio.
The AMG G 63 Offroad Pro pushes the equation further towards its all-terrain roots without abandoning the performance, technology and luxury that define the modern G 63.
With a ₹3.80 crore starting price and limited availability, the Offroad Pro is unlikely to become a common sight on Indian roads. More importantly, its specialised suspension technology and off-road hardware show that even as the G-Class becomes more sophisticated — and considerably more luxurious — Mercedes-AMG still expects some owners to venture beyond the tarmac.
