NEW DELHI: Kia India has opened pre-bookings for the Carens CNG, Carens Clavis CNG and Carnival Limousine Hybrid through its authorised dealer network, expanding its Indian portfolio with factory-fitted CNG and hybrid powertrain options.
Prices for all three models will be announced at a later date, the automaker said.
The new variants, recently showcased at Kia Inspiration Day, broaden the company’s multi-powertrain strategy in India, giving buyers alternatives beyond conventional petrol and diesel offerings across both mainstream three-row models and the premium MPV segment.
Carens CNG, Carens Clavis CNG Get 60-Litre Factory-Fitted Tank
The Kia Carens CNG and Carens Clavis CNG are based on the G1.5 6MT powertrain and will be equipped with a factory-fitted CNG kit featuring a 60-litre tank.
Kia has also made several CNG-specific changes rather than simply finding space for an extra fuel tank and calling it a day.
Both models will feature CNG-specific engine calibration and modified suspension, along with 16-inch wheels and 16-inch disc brakes.
A dedicated CNG Fuel Change Switch will allow drivers to select the fuel mode, while the 4.2-inch Colour TFT MID incorporates CNG DTE Logic to provide driving-range information.
Kia has also modified the third-row Seat-Back Frame to improve the recline angle, an important detail in three-row vehicles where the last row can occasionally feel more like an assignment than a seat.
Kia Carens CNG Variants
For private customers, the Carens CNG will be offered in the Premium (O) G1.5 6MT trim.
The Carens Clavis CNG will be available in HTE G1.5 6MT and HTE (O) G1.5 6MT variants.
Kia will also offer dedicated versions for its B2B and commercial mobility business.
Under this programme, the Carens CNG will be available in the M-Drive G1.5 6MT trim, while the Carens Clavis CNG will be offered in HTM G1.5 6MT specification.
The addition of factory-fitted CNG options potentially widens the appeal of the two three-row models among customers seeking an alternative fuel option for higher daily usage, including fleet and commercial operators.
Carnival Limousine Hybrid Gets 1.6-Litre Turbo-Hybrid Powertrain
At the premium end of the range, Kia will introduce the Carnival Limousine Hybrid in Limousine+ G1.6T HEV 6AT specification.
The model brings an electrified powertrain to Kia’s premium MPV portfolio in India while retaining the comfort and convenience equipment associated with the Carnival Limousine range.
Exterior highlights include 18-inch (45.72 cm) Crystal Cut Dual Tone Aero Alloy Wheels, along with Active Air Flaps (AAF) and a Virtual Engine Sound System (VESS).
Inside, the Carnival Limousine Hybrid will offer a Smart Pure Air Purifier with AQI Display, retractable and height-adjustable seat-back tables with wireless charging, monotone ambient lighting, cup holders and leatherette-wrapped door trims.
The hybrid addition gives Kia another powertrain option in a segment where buyers increasingly expect large vehicles to combine space and luxury with greater efficiency and electrification.
Kia Broadens Multi-Powertrain Strategy in India
The introduction of the Carens CNG, Carens Clavis CNG and Carnival Limousine Hybrid marks another expansion of Kia India’s powertrain strategy as manufacturers respond to increasingly varied customer requirements.
CNG remains particularly relevant to buyers focused on running costs and high vehicle utilisation, while hybrid technology offers manufacturers another route towards electrification without requiring customers to depend entirely on public charging infrastructure.
Pre-bookings for all three models are now open through Kia India’s authorised dealer network.
With CNG entering Kia’s three-row Carens family and hybrid technology reaching the Carnival Limousine, the company is widening the number of ways Indian customers can power their next Kia. The final piece of the equation — pricing — is still to come.
