Gurugram: Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has launched the new Hyundai Exter Knight, adding a black-themed version of its compact SUV with darkened exterior elements, an all-black cabin, brass accents and a choice of petrol and CNG powertrains.
The launch expands Hyundai’s Knight portfolio, which the company said has recorded cumulative sales of more than 1,00,000 units since the range was introduced in 2022. The Exter Knight will be offered across HX 6 and HX 10 variants, with manual, AMT and Hy-CNG Duo powertrain choices.
The new model does not alter the Exter’s basic mechanical formula, instead focusing largely on cosmetic differentiation. Among the exterior changes are matte black Exter and Hyundai logos at the front and rear, dark grey bumper and side-sill garnishes, black alloy wheels, red front brake calipers and an exclusive Knight emblem.
Depending on the variant, the Exter Knight receives either R15 (D=380.2 mm) sporty black alloy wheels or R15 (D=380.2 mm) dark grey styled steel wheels.
The red brake calipers provide a small flash of colour amid all that darkness — apparently even a Knight occasionally needs something brighter than black.
Inside, Hyundai has given the Exter Knight an all-black theme complemented by brass accents. It also gets exclusive black semi-fabric seat upholstery, amber-coloured footwell ambient lighting and, on applicable variants, a black D-cut steering wheel.
Speaking on the launch of the new Hyundai Exter Knight, Amit Dhaundiyal, Head, Product Strategy & Planning, HMIL, said “Since its launch, the Hyundai Exter has emerged as a strong choice for customers seeking a stylish, feature-rich and dependable SUV. The introduction of the new Hyundai Exter Knight will further enhance its bold SUV character through a distinctive all-black theme, striking brass detailing and exclusive design elements. Our Knight range has received an overwhelming response from customers across our product portfolio, with over 1,00,000 Knight vehicles sold since its introduction. The new Hyundai Exter Knight reflects HMIL’s commitment to offering differentiated products that resonate with evolving customer aspirations and lifestyles.”

Three Powertrain Choices
The Exter Knight is powered by Hyundai’s four-cylinder 1.2-litre Kappa engine and is available with petrol as well as bi-fuel petrol-CNG configurations.
Customers can choose from a 1.2-litre Kappa petrol engine paired with a five-speed manual transmission, the same petrol engine with Smart Auto AMT, or a 1.2-litre Bi-fuel Kappa Petrol with CNG paired with a five-speed manual transmission.
The Knight edition is offered in the following configurations: HX 6 1.2 l Kappa Petrol MT, HX 6 1.2 l Kappa Petrol AMT, HX 6 1.2 l Bi-fuel Kappa Petrol with CNG and HX 10 1.2 l Kappa Petrol AMT.
Five Exterior Colours
Despite its dark-themed identity, buyers are not limited to an entirely black exterior. Hyundai is offering the Exter Knight in five colours: Titanium Black, Atlas White, Starry Night, Titan Grey and Golden Bronze.
The broader colour palette allows the blacked-out badges, wheels and trim pieces to provide contrast on lighter finishes while retaining the visual identity of the Knight edition.
Hyundai has positioned the Exter Knight as a design-focused derivative aimed particularly at younger urban buyers looking for greater visual distinction without moving away from the Exter’s existing powertrain and practical compact-SUV package.
With more than 1 lakh Knight-badged vehicles sold since 2022, Hyundai’s decision to extend the treatment to the Exter reflects the growing use of special styling editions to broaden model line-ups without major mechanical changes. For buyers, the Exter Knight therefore adds another flavour to an already crowded compact-SUV market — this time with considerably more black trim and a strategically placed splash of red.
