NEW DELHI: Kia India has teased the All-New Sorento ahead of its India launch, confirming that the premium SUV will become the company’s first hybrid offering in the country. Official pre-bookings for the model have opened through Kia dealerships and the company’s India website.
The upcoming Sorento will add a new premium SUV to Kia’s Indian portfolio while also marking the automaker’s entry into the hybrid vehicle space in the market. Kia has yet to disclose pricing, detailed specifications, launch timing or the configuration of the hybrid powertrain, saying further information will be announced in due course.
The teaser provides an early look at the India-bound SUV, showing a tall and upright silhouette, a pronounced shoulder line and a wide stance.
One of the more distinctive elements visible in the teaser is an illuminated lighting graphic extending across the front, accompanied by a secondary lighting cluster positioned lower on the bumper. Together, the elements suggest a two-tier lighting signature for the India-spec Sorento.
While much of the SUV remains deliberately hidden — teasers rarely believe in giving away the entire plot — the images point towards a design focused on strong road presence and the proportions expected of a large family-oriented SUV.
Sorento Has Sold More Than 4.8 Million Units Globally
The Sorento is one of Kia’s established global nameplates. First introduced in 2002, the SUV has progressed through four generations and recorded cumulative sales of more than 4.8 million units across 132 countries, according to Kia.
The company said the Sorento was among its three best-selling models globally in both 2024 and 2025.
International versions of the SUV have also received safety and automotive industry recognition, including the IIHS Top Safety Pick+, a 5-Star NHTSA safety rating, and Car and Driver’s Editors’ Choice award.
Kia is positioning the Sorento as a premium flagship SUV for India, with the model expected to combine its global design approach with newer technology and hybrid propulsion.
However, the company has not yet revealed whether the India-spec vehicle will mirror the powertrain, equipment and seating configurations available in overseas markets.
Kia Opens Sorento Pre-Bookings in India
Customers interested in the All-New Sorento can now place pre-bookings at their nearest Kia India dealership or through the company’s official website.
The launch will expand Kia India’s SUV range into a higher-end segment while giving the company its first hybrid product in the country.
Kia said the Sorento will carry its global brand promise of “Movement that Inspires” into the Indian market, with additional details to be disclosed closer to launch.
For Kia, the Sorento’s arrival is significant beyond the addition of another SUV badge. Its hybrid powertrain will give the company a new foothold in India’s evolving electrified vehicle market, where manufacturers are increasingly exploring technologies that sit between conventional internal-combustion engines and fully electric vehicles. How Kia prices and positions the Sorento will therefore be closely watched when the covers finally come off.
