Pune: Tesla India has opened its first Tesla-Approved Body Shop in Pune, expanding after-sales support for electric vehicle owners in Maharashtra while also introducing local test drives of the 2026 Model Y Premium Rear-Wheel Drive and the six-seat Model Y L.
The authorised facility will provide collision repairs, bodywork and service support using genuine Tesla parts and company-approved repair procedures. Tesla said the centre will employ trained technicians capable of conducting software-aware diagnostics—a particularly important detail when the vehicle being repaired has nearly as much computing power as mechanical hardware.
According to the company, the Pune facility will offer professional collision repairs conducted to Tesla standards, approved repair processes and assistance intended to preserve vehicle safety and performance.
The local service capability is expected to reduce repair-related downtime for Tesla owners in Pune and other parts of Maharashtra. It also gives customers access to authorised support without having to depend on facilities located farther away.
Alongside the body shop opening, Tesla has started accepting test-drive appointments in Pune and surrounding areas for the Model Y Premium Rear-Wheel Drive and Model Y L. Prospective customers can book through Tesla’s official Indian website or call the company’s toll-free number, 1-800 203 1538.
Model Y Premium Rear-Wheel Drive
The 2026 Tesla Model Y Premium Rear-Wheel Drive is priced at ₹50,89,000 in India. Tesla is offering the vehicle with a down payment of ₹6,00,000 and an indicative monthly EMI starting at ₹39,990.
Deliveries are scheduled to commence in July 2026.
The five-seat electric SUV offers up to 2,138 litres of storage space and comes with power-folding rear seats. Tesla claims the model can accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds and travel up to 500 km on a single charge under the WLTP testing cycle.
Model Y L
Customers in Pune can also test-drive the Model Y L, a larger all-wheel-drive electric SUV with three rows and seating for six occupants.
The Model Y L is priced from ₹61,99,000, with a down payment of ₹6,50,000 and an indicative monthly EMI starting at ₹49,990.
Tesla claims the model offers a WLTP range of up to 681 km, accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 5.0 seconds and provides as much as 2,539 litres of cargo space.
The extended body and three-row layout are designed to provide additional headroom, legroom and passenger comfort, positioning the Model Y L as the more family-focused option in Tesla’s Indian line-up.
The company said test drives would allow potential buyers to compare the two Model Y variants before choosing between the five-seat rear-wheel-drive model and the larger six-seat all-wheel-drive version.
Pune is an important automotive and technology hub, with a substantial industrial base and growing interest in electric mobility. Establishing authorised repair infrastructure in the city could therefore be as significant for Tesla’s expansion as opening new sales touchpoints, particularly as Indian buyers increasingly examine service accessibility before committing to premium electric vehicles.
