Gurugram — Hyundai Motor India Limited has given its flagship electric SUV, the Hyundai Ioniq 5, a comprehensive update for 2026, and this one isn’t just a mild facelift—it’s more like a tech-savvy glow-up with a longer driving leash.
At the heart of the update is a larger 84.0 kWh battery pack, now delivering an ARAI-certified range of up to 690 km. In simple terms, this means fewer “battery low” panic moments and more confidence for long highway drives—yes, even those spontaneous Delhi-to-Jaipur coffee runs suddenly feel more doable.

The refreshed Ioniq 5 continues to sit on Hyundai’s dedicated E-GMP platform, but now comes with sharper styling cues. The new front and rear bumpers, redesigned alloy wheels, and updated lighting elements retain the car’s signature Parametric Pixel identity while giving it a slightly more assertive stance. It’s still futuristic, just with a bit more attitude—like it started going to the gym.
Inside, the cabin gets a thoughtful update rather than a complete overhaul. A new three-spoke leather steering wheel with Hyundai’s signature four-dot illumination adds a subtle visual flair, while the redesigned centre fascia and improved ergonomics make everyday usability better. Dual 12.3-inch screens continue to dominate the dashboard, now paired with a new ccNC (Connected Car Navigation Cockpit) system and over-the-air update capabilities.
Technology takes a significant leap forward. The updated Ioniq 5 now supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, features Active Sound Design, and even introduces in-car payment integration—allowing drivers to pay for EV charging directly from the infotainment screen. It’s the kind of feature that makes you wonder why fumbling with apps ever existed.
Safety and convenience also see meaningful upgrades. New additions like Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist (Rear) and Side Parking Distance Warning aim to make tight parking situations less stressful. Meanwhile, Hyundai’s Bluelink connected tech now enables remote immobilization—essentially giving owners the ability to disable the vehicle remotely in case of theft. Think of it as a digital “don’t even try it” warning.
Commenting on the launch, Tarun Garg highlighted the Ioniq 5’s global success, including its recognition as World Car of the Year and Green Car of the Year in India, adding that these updates further strengthen its position as a premium, future-ready EV.
Offered in colours like Gravity Gold Matte, Midnight Black Pearl, Titan Grey and Optic White, the updated Ioniq 5 continues with its premium positioning. It is priced at ₹55.70 lakh (ex-showroom), firmly placing it in the upper echelon of India’s EV market.
In a segment where range anxiety used to be the main conversation starter, the new Ioniq 5 quietly flips the script. Now, the bigger question might just be—where do you want to go next?
