Toyota Steps Into Used Car Game with UTrust: First Multi-Brand Outlet Opens in Bengaluru

Bengaluru — The pre-owned car market in India just got a fresh dose of Japanese precision (and perhaps a little less “bhaiya, final price batao” bargaining). Toyota’s mobility arm has officially entered the multi-brand used car space, as Toyota Kirloskar Sundaram Mobility Pvt Ltd inaugurated its first UTrust retail outlet in Whitefield, Bengaluru.

This marks Toyota’s serious intent to not just sell cars—but also resell them properly.

The newly launched UTrust outlet is positioned as a one-stop destination for certified pre-owned cars across multiple brands, aiming to bring order, transparency, and a bit of sanity to a market often known for its unpredictability. Think of it as Toyota saying, “If we can engineer cars to last forever, we might as well manage their second innings too.”

A wholly owned subsidiary of Toyota Kirloskar Sundaram Automotive Solutions Pvt Ltd, TKSM is building a scalable, multi-brand ecosystem that goes beyond just buying and selling cars. The vision spans the entire lifecycle—right from sourcing and refurbishment to retail and after-sales support—essentially covering everything except teaching you how to parallel park.

Operating under the UTrust brand, the outlet promises quality-assured vehicles that go through rigorous inspections and refurbishment using genuine parts. Add to that proprietary warranty packages, roadside assistance, and complete documentation support—including RC transfers—and the idea becomes clear: buying a used car shouldn’t feel like a leap of faith anymore.

The integrated outlet model ensures consistency across the board by seamlessly combining sourcing, refurbishment, retail, and service operations. In simpler terms, no more “car looks great but paperwork is missing” surprises.

To steer this ambitious venture, TKSM has appointed Rajesh Menon as President. With over 35 years of experience in the automotive industry, Menon will lead the company’s growth and expansion strategy—likely with the calm confidence of someone who has seen every kind of used car deal imaginable.

Commenting on the milestone, Geetanjali Kirloskar, Chairperson and Managing Director of Kirloskar Systems, emphasized that this initiative is about building long-term customer trust and bringing structure to the pre-owned car market. The focus, she noted, is on transparency, confidence, and creating a future-ready mobility ecosystem.

Echoing this sentiment, Srivats Ram highlighted that the venture aims to redefine how customers experience used car ownership, combining trust, convenience, and value into a single platform.

Meanwhile, Tadashi Asazuma, Deputy Managing Director at Toyota Kirloskar Motor, pointed out that the initiative reflects the growing professionalism in India’s pre-owned car segment—something that has long needed more structure and standardisation.

With this move, Toyota isn’t just entering the used car market—it’s attempting to clean it up, organise it, and give it a warranty-backed handshake. And if all goes according to plan, the phrase “second-hand car” might soon sound a lot more first-class.
