Gurugram: In what can only be described as a “plugged-in success story,” JSW MG Motor India has reported a robust 66% year-on-year growth in its electric vehicle (EV) sales for FY26, underlining the brand’s accelerating momentum in India’s rapidly evolving EV landscape.
The company sold a total of 62,591 EVs in FY26, a significant jump from 37,730 units in FY25, signaling not just growth—but a clear shift in consumer mindset from fuel pumps to charging plugs. March 2026 further reinforced this trajectory, with MG recording 6,528 units in monthly sales, marking a 19% year-on-year increase.
At the center of this electric celebration is the ever-popular MG Windsor EV, which continues to dominate the segment as India’s best-selling passenger EV. The Windsor posted a strong performance in March, with 4,530 units sold, translating to a 19% year-on-year growth—proof that the car isn’t just moving silently, but selling loudly.
Interestingly, MG’s EV success story isn’t confined to metro cities anymore. A notable 70% of Windsor’s sales come from non-metro markets, highlighting a deeper and more widespread adoption of electric mobility. In simpler terms, EVs are no longer just a “big city flex”—they’re becoming a practical, everyday choice across India’s heartland.
This trend reflects a broader shift in buyer behavior, where factors like lower running costs, expanding charging infrastructure, and increased awareness are nudging customers toward cleaner mobility solutions. And yes, it also helps when your EV doesn’t make your wallet cry at every fuel station visit.
Looking ahead, MG isn’t taking its foot off the accelerator. The company has confirmed plans to further strengthen its New Energy Vehicle (NEV) portfolio with the introduction of its first Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) in the coming months. This move aims to bridge the gap for customers still sitting on the EV fence—offering a mix of electric efficiency and traditional range reassurance.
With consistent growth, strong product acceptance, and a widening footprint beyond urban centers, JSW MG Motor India is steadily positioning itself as a key player in India’s electric mobility revolution.
Because clearly, in today’s India, the future doesn’t just look electric—it’s already charging ahead.
