Mumbai: When luxury meets practicality, interesting things happen. When Mercedes-Benz decides to combine limousine comfort with the space of a luxury lounge, the result is the all-new V-Class Extra Long Wheelbase (LWB)—a vehicle the brand proudly describes as a “private suite on wheels.” And judging by the features list, it’s not an exaggeration.
Priced at an introductory ₹1.4 crore (ex-showroom, India), the new V-Class arrives with petrol and diesel powertrains, ultra-luxurious seating, and technology that makes long journeys feel more like a five-star hotel stay than a drive on Indian roads.

Luxury MPV, But Make It Ultra-Exclusive
Mercedes-Benz has launched the V-Class in Extra-Long Wheelbase configuration, measuring 5,370 mm in length with a 3,430 mm wheelbase, ensuring cavernous space for passengers.
The luxury people-mover features a sophisticated six-seat layout, designed especially for India’s growing tribe of business leaders, celebrities, and affluent families who want privacy, comfort, and space while travelling.
According to Santosh Iyer, Managing Director & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India, the new V-Class is tailored for customers who want a personal sanctuary on the move.
“We are delighted to introduce the all-new V-Class for the Indian market, redefining the concept of a ‘private suite’. It offers luxury, space and privacy for discerning customers who value tranquility and exclusivity while travelling.”
In simpler terms: this is the kind of vehicle where even traffic jams might feel relaxing.
Now with Local Production in India
In a significant move, Mercedes-Benz confirmed that the V-Class will be locally produced in India, reinforcing the brand’s long-term commitment to the market.
The V-Class becomes the second model announced for local production this year, following the luxury Mercedes-Maybach GLS.
Local production is expected to strengthen availability and pricing competitiveness for Indian customers in the luxury MPV segment.
Petrol Debuts for the First Time
For the first time in India, the V-Class is offered with both petrol and diesel engines, paired with the brand’s 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission.
Powertrain Options
- V300 Petrol:
170 kW (228 bhp) engine with 15 kW mild-hybrid assistance - V300d Diesel:
174 kW (233 bhp)
Both variants are engineered to deliver smooth, effortless performance—because nothing ruins a luxury experience like an engine that sounds like it’s working too hard.
Airmatic Suspension for Indian Roads
The V-Class features Airmatic air suspension, specially tuned for Indian conditions.
Interestingly, India becomes the first market globally to offer Airmatic on both petrol and diesel versions of the V-Class.
The system automatically adjusts damping and ride height to provide:
- Improved ride comfort
- Better stability at high speeds
- Efficient fuel consumption
Essentially, it helps the V-Class glide over potholes with the grace of a luxury yacht—something Indian roads will certainly test.
A First-Class Cabin Experience
Step inside the V-Class and it quickly becomes clear why Mercedes calls it a “private suite.”
The second row features first-class luxury individual seats with:
- 3-stage ventilation
- Massage function
- Calf support
- Deployable cupholders
- Wireless charging
The third row also gets ventilated seats, making the V-Class the first vehicle in its segment to offer this feature.
Other cabin highlights include:
- 64-colour ambient lighting
- Burmester surround sound with Dolby Atmos
- 15 speakers producing 640 W output
- Thermotronic automatic climate control
- Energizing Comfort programme with wellness modes
- Electric sliding doors on both sides
- Electrically operated split tailgate
In short, passengers may start arguing over who gets the “best seat” — because every seat feels like the best seat.
AMG Styling Meets Premium Design
The V-Class also brings sporty luxury thanks to the AMG Line exterior and interior package, featuring:
- Star-pattern radiator grille
- AMG ventilation grilles
- LED light strip
- Logo projector
- 18-inch AMG alloy wheels
Lighting duties are handled by Multibeam LED headlamps with 84 individually controllable LEDs per module, ensuring optimal illumination without dazzling other drivers.
Segment-Leading Safety and Technology
Mercedes-Benz has also packed the V-Class with advanced safety and driver assistance features.
Safety Highlights
- 7 standard airbags, including window airbags extending from A-to-D pillars
- Active Distance Assist Distronic
- Active Lane Keeping Assist
- Blind Spot Assist with Rear Cross Traffic Alert
- Driver camera with Attention Assist
- 360-degree camera with 3D surround view
- Active Parking Assist with 12 ultrasonic sensors
All of which means the V-Class is designed to keep both driver and passengers comfortable—and safe.
Booking Details
Bookings for the all-new V-Class are now open with a ₹5 lakh booking amount, ensuring eligibility for the introductory price.
Existing Mercedes-Benz customers will also receive priority deliveries, adding yet another layer of exclusivity.
A New Chapter for Luxury Mobility in India
With Indian luxury buyers increasingly seeking space, privacy, and chauffeur-driven comfort, the V-Class arrives at the perfect time.
Whether it’s CEOs travelling between meetings, families heading for weekend getaways, or celebrities avoiding paparazzi flashes, the Mercedes-Benz V-Class Extra LWB promises a travel experience that feels less like commuting and more like relaxing in a private lounge on wheels.
And if the traffic gets worse, well—at least passengers can enjoy a massage seat while waiting.
