MG Select also races into 2nd spot in India’s luxury EV segment within just six months of launch
Gurugram: In a year when most Indians were still debating between petrol, diesel, hybrid and EV, the MG Cyberster quietly did what sports cars are meant to do — accelerate ahead of the pack. JSW MG Motor India today announced that the Cyberster has emerged as India’s top-selling sports car in 2025, with over 500 units sold in just six months.
Not bad for a segment that usually sells in “double digits and dreams”.
The success of the Cyberster has also powered MG Select, MG’s luxury retail channel, into becoming the second-largest brand in India’s luxury EV space in under half a year — proving that premium electric mobility in India is no longer just about range anxiety, but also about style, speed and serious street presence.
A Sports Car That Also Knows Its Colours
Responding to the strong market buzz, MG SELECT recently introduced Irises Cyan, a bespoke new shade developed to highlight the Cyberster’s sculptural and futuristic design. In simple terms: it’s the kind of colour that makes people stop scrolling and start staring — both on Instagram and at traffic lights.
Alongside the Cyberster, the MG M9 Presidential Limousine has also established itself as a segment leader, resonating strongly with buyers who prefer their luxury to be chauffeur-driven, whisper-quiet and politically correct (read: electric).
What MG Has to Say
Commenting on the milestone, Milind Shah, Head – MG Select, JSW MG Motor India, said:
“2025 marked the foundation year for MG Select in India. Our focus was on building credibility in the luxury EV space through distinctive products, thoughtfully designed experience centres, and meaningful customer engagement. The response to the Cyberster and MG M9 reaffirmed that there is a growing appetite for progressive luxury in the market. As we move into 2026, our priority remains strengthening this ecosystem and delivering experiences that reflect the evolving expectations of luxury EV customers.”
Building More Than Just Cars
MG Select has now expanded to 15 experience centres across key Indian markets, and is also partnering with select high-end brands across design, lifestyle and luxury services. The aim is clear — MG doesn’t just want to sell electric cars, it wants to sell an electric lifestyle.
And if the Cyberster’s 2025 performance is anything to go by, MG’s luxury EV strategy seems to be fully charged — no fast charger required.
