MG Motor India Strengthens Community Healthcare with Hector Ambulance Donation to Chinmaya Mission

New Delhi: In a move that proves SUVs can do more than just conquer traffic and parking spaces, JSW MG Motor India has handed over a specially retrofitted MG Hector ambulance to Chinmaya Mission Delhi under its community initiative, MG Sewa. The ambulance will strengthen medical preparedness during community programmes and large public gatherings, ensuring that help is never stuck in “buffering mode” when it’s needed most.

The ambulance was formally handed over at the Chinmaya Centre of World Understanding on Lodhi Road, marking another step in JSW MG Motor India’s philosophy of translating manufacturing capability into meaningful social impact. Through MG Sewa, the company partners with institutions that are deeply rooted in community service, blending mobility with responsibility.

The handover ceremony was graced by Padma Shri awardee Dr Ganesh Kumar Mani, eminent cardiologist and Chairman of Cardio Thoracic and Vascular Surgery at Max Smart Super Speciality Hospital, Saket, along with Dr Manju Mani as Guest of Honour. Addressing the audience, Dr Mani highlighted the growing health risks of modern lifestyles—ranging from vaping and digital overuse to sedentary habits—and stressed the importance of preventive care and medical readiness.

“Heart disease remains the leading cause of mortality worldwide,” said Dr Mani. “I often speak about the seven ‘S’ factors to avoid: smoking, stress, sugar, salt, spirits, saturated fats, and a sedentary lifestyle. The golden hour matters—preparedness and immediate response can save lives.”

Senior executives from JSW MG Motor India were present at the event, with Yeshwinder Patial, Chief Human Resource Officer, leading the ceremonial proceedings. Speaking on the occasion, Patial said, “The handover of the MG Hector Ambulance to Chinmaya Mission underscores our commitment to community welfare and purposeful mobility. The Hector’s robust build, advanced technology, and spacious design make it an ideal platform for emergency medical support. Through MG Sewa, we aim to ensure our vehicles contribute meaningfully to society, not just to road presence.”

On behalf of Chinmaya Mission Delhi, Brahmachari Soham Chaitanya and Jatinder Dhir received the keys of the ambulance, in the presence of trustees, volunteers, healthcare professionals, and members of the Mission community.

Built on the MG Hector platform, the ambulance has been transformed into a fully equipped emergency response vehicle. It features oxygen delivery systems, ventilator support, patient monitoring equipment, an auto-loader stretcher, and customised medical storage—essentially turning a popular SUV into a mobile lifesaving unit.

The ambulance will support on-site medical readiness during Chinmaya Mission’s residential camps, educational programmes, spiritual discourses, and large public events. The Mission’s wide-ranging initiatives—from Shishu Vihar for children to Vanaprastha programmes for senior citizens—often involve large gatherings, making emergency preparedness a critical need.

Chinmaya Mission’s engagement with healthcare goes beyond events. The Chinmaya Mission Hospital in Bengaluru has evolved from a small clinic into a major healthcare institution serving hundreds of thousands of patients, while the Chinmaya Institute of Nursing continues to train future healthcare professionals.

As part of its 2026 healthcare roadmap, Chinmaya Mission Delhi has also announced plans for an eye camp, free health check-ups for women, and dedicated child health screenings.

Delivering the vote of thanks, Ms Shibani Khorana from Chinmaya Mission expressed gratitude to JSW MG Motor India and the dignitaries, noting that preparedness is an essential extension of care—especially in a year marking 75 years of the Chinmaya Movement.

With this initiative, JSW MG Motor India once again demonstrates that in today’s world, the real horsepower isn’t just under the bonnet—it’s in how fast a vehicle can make a difference when lives are on the line.
