BYD Sealion 7 Price Hike Announced: Secure Today’s Tag Before 2026 Takes the Wheel

New Delhi — In the world of electric mobility, where range anxiety has finally taken a back seat, wallet anxiety has decided to make a cameo. BYD India, the subsidiary of the world’s No. 1 New Energy Vehicle (NEV) manufacturer, today confirmed that its premium electric eSUV — the BYD Sealion 7 — will become pricier from January 1, 2026. The announcement has promptly set the clock ticking for customers who now have until 31 December 2025 to secure their electric beast at current ex-showroom prices.

The Sealion 7 has quietly turned into a segment sensation since its reveal at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, selling over 2,000 units across India. For a vehicle that accelerates from 0–100 km/h faster than many petrol-powered performance SUVs, the “quietly” is very literal.

Current Ex-Showroom Prices

  • BYD Sealion 7 Performance (82.56 kWh) — ₹54,90,000
  • BYD Sealion 7 Premium (82.56 kWh) — ₹48,90,000

These prices remain valid for those who book before the year ends — after which the new pricing will be applied, presumably right around the time everyone is making their New Year’s resolution to “spend less.”

Speaking on the announcement, Rajeev Chauhan, Head of Electric Passenger Vehicles (EPV) Business at BYD India, said:

“The BYD Sealion 7 has struck a chord with customers across India. It has sold over 2,000 units in a short span reflecting the strong market confidence in our Pure Performance electric SUV. With the planned price revision from early 2026, we want to ensure that customers who have been waiting to purchase the BYD Sealion 7 can still benefit from the current pricing till 31 December 2025.”

He further emphasized that as BYD expands its dealer footprint and customer touchpoints, the Sealion 7 will remain a core pillar of the company’s electric mobility strategy.

The “Electric Apex Predator” of SUVs

The BYD Sealion 7 isn’t your average green commuter. It’s built on BYD’s advanced iTAC (Intelligence Torque Adaption Control) and CTB (Cell to Body) architecture — the latter embedding the Blade Battery into the vehicle structure. The result?
✔️ More cabin space
✔️ Better torsional rigidity
✔️ Superior handling and safety

Safety also isn’t just a bullet point — with a 5-Star NCAP rating, the Sealion 7 is engineered to offer peace of mind even at autobahn-worthy speeds.

Under its sculpted design lies a hefty 82.56 kWh battery pack, powering two distinct trims:

  • Performance Variant
    • Power: 390 kW | 690 Nm
    • 0–100 km/h: 4.5 seconds
    • NEDC Range: 542 km
  • Premium Variant
    • Power: 230 kW | 380 Nm
    • 0–100 km/h: 6.7 seconds
    • NEDC Range: 567 km

With a length of 4,830 mm and a generous 2,930 mm wheelbase, the Sealion 7 carries proportions that would make traditional luxury SUVs slightly nervous — more lounge than backseat, more command center than cockpit.

Expanding Footprint, Expanding Ambitions

BYD India continues to accelerate its growth with 47 dealerships across 40 cities, giving customers easier access, shorter delivery timelines, and better after-sales touchpoints. The brand’s rapid presence isn’t just local pride — it’s quietly fueling a larger electric revolution.

Globally, BYD has already sold over 14 million NEVs, helping reduce 118.3 billion kilograms of CO₂ — roughly equivalent to the carbon absorption capacity of 1.9 billion trees. In a world where everyone promises sustainability, BYD has the numbers to back it up (and the battery patents to scare competitors).

Its standing among the Top 10 Most Valuable Global Automotive Brands (Kantar BrandZ), along with its #91 position in the 2025 Fortune Global 500 and a brand value of USD 14.4 billion, reinforces the Chinese giant’s long-term leadership in EV mobility.

For buyers on the fence, this is your reminder that hesitation and price hikes are terrible roommates. With the Sealion 7, BYD has packaged design, performance, safety, and battery wizardry into one formidable electric SUV — and those who act before 31 December 2025 will get it at today’s sticker price.

After that? Well… you may have to pay a little extra to be quietly faster than your neighbour’s petrol V6.
