Ten Years, One King: Creta Still Rules the SUV Jungle as Hyundai India Sells 60,073 Units in July 2025

Gurugram – Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has hit the accelerator on sales, clocking 60,073 units in July 2025, split between 43,973 domestic units and 16,100 exports. While those numbers already look healthy, the real showstopper is the SUV line-up, which contributed a record 71.8% of Hyundai’s domestic sales this month – proving once again that Indian buyers simply refuse to let go of their love affair with tall, bulky, and road-commanding machines.

But the real birthday cake goes to the Hyundai Creta, which has just blown out 10 candles on its SUV-sized cake, celebrating a decade of dominance. Since its 2015 launch, the Creta has managed to charm over 1.2 million customers, cementing itself as India’s most loyal “mid-size monarch.” Whether parked in posh colonies or climbing Himalayan hill roads with luggage tied on top, the Creta has done it all – and apparently, with style.

Tarun Garg, Whole-time Director and COO of HMIL, put it best: “As we celebrate the incredible 10-year journey of Hyundai Creta in India, we are proud to see it setting new benchmarks in comfort, convenience and performance thereby holding on to the best-selling SUV crown in the Mid-SUV segment, every completed year since its launch in 2015.”

Industry experts note that while the overall auto market is experiencing a slight drizzle of slowdown, Hyundai remains in full sunshine mode, banking on the festive season to turbocharge sales. Add to that the company’s upcoming state-of-the-art Talegaon facility, and Hyundai looks ready to shift gears into an even more aggressive future.

For now, one thing is clear: in India’s SUV kingdom, the Creta continues to wear the crown unchallenged – and doesn’t look ready to abdicate anytime soon.
