New Delhi – In a landmark move towards sustainable mobility, Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL) today announced that all its current models, including the Honda Elevate, Honda City e:HEV, Honda City, and Honda Amaze, are now fully E20 compliant. This certification, which extends to the 2nd Generation Honda Amaze certified in January 2025, reinforces Honda’s commitment to delivering eco-friendly and technologically advanced automotive solutions.
Since January 2009, every Honda car manufactured in India has been built to be E20 material compatible. This long-standing practice allows customers to seamlessly switch to E20 petrol—a blend containing 20% ethanol—without any modifications to their vehicles. Honda’s proactive approach not only ensures durability and performance but also positions its cars to meet the evolving regulatory standards and consumer expectations as India embarks on a journey toward greener fuels.
The Government of India’s recent mandate requires all gasoline-powered mono-fuel and bi-fuel vehicles, including hybrids manufactured on or after April 1, 2025, to comply with E20 certification. By achieving this milestone ahead of the nationwide roll-out of E20 petrol, Honda Cars India is setting a precedent in the auto industry and supporting the nation’s transition to cleaner energy alternatives.
Commenting on this significant achievement, Kunal Behl, Vice President, Marketing & Sales, Honda Cars India Ltd., stated, “At Honda Cars India, we are committed to driving sustainable mobility solutions. Our vehicles have been E20 material compatible since January 2009, enabling our customers to adopt the greener E20 fuel effortlessly. This latest certification for all our current models not only aligns with the Government of India’s goal of implementing greener fuels but also demonstrates our commitment to innovation and environmental stewardship. As India moves towards a cleaner and more sustainable future, HCIL will continue to lead the way.”
With its comprehensive E20 compliance, Honda Cars India is not only ensuring a smoother transition for its customers but also reinforcing its role as a frontrunner in the industry’s shift toward sustainable transportation. As the country gears up for the nationwide introduction of E20 petrol, Honda’s initiative underscores the importance of integrating advanced technologies and eco-friendly practices to drive long-term environmental benefits.
This strategic move by Honda Cars India is expected to accelerate the adoption of sustainable practices within the automotive sector, setting the stage for a future where innovation and environmental responsibility go hand in hand.
