Driving Towards a Greener Tomorrow: MGL and Nawgati Join Forces for CNG Mahotsav 2.0

Mumbai – In a significant move to promote cleaner energy solutions, Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) has partnered with Nawgati, an emerging fuel aggregator startup, to launch a fleet-focused initiative under the banner of MGL CNG Mahotsav 2.0. This collaborative effort is designed to accelerate the adoption of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) among commercial fleet operators in Mumbai, Thane, and Raigad districts.

The program offers a host of incentives for fleet operators, including support for the purchase of new CNG-powered commercial vehicles or retrofitting existing vehicles to run on CNG. Through this initiative, MGL aims to encourage fleet owners to transition from conventional fuels like petrol and diesel to CNG, which is not only cost-effective but also significantly reduces emissions, contributing to better urban air quality.

Simplified Payments with MGL Fuel Cards

Central to this collaboration is the introduction of the MGL Fuel Card, a dual-payment solution that allows fleet operators to seamlessly manage refueling costs. Nawgati’s advanced digital platform will enable operators to pay for CNG refueling either via physical cards at point-of-sale (POS) machines or digitally through the MGL Connect app or Nawgati Fuelling app. These cards are accepted at participating MGL CNG stations, including select BEST bus depots in Ghatkopar and Goregaon.

Fleet operators can also access the MGL Fleet Platform, where they can register their vehicles, manage drivers, and schedule refueling, making operations more streamlined and efficient.

A Sustainable Partnership

“MGL CNG Mahotsav 2.0 is not just an initiative but a commitment to sustainability,” said Vaibhav Kaushik, Co-founder and CEO of Nawgati. “By simplifying the transition to CNG through innovative technology and tailored incentives, we aim to support a greener future for fleet operators in Mumbai, Thane, and Raigad, and eventually across India.”

Nawgati will play a pivotal role as a technical partner, supporting MGL’s closed-loop payment system to ensure smooth transactions for fleet operators who participate in the scheme. The company has also signed an MoU with MGL to integrate its Nawgati Fuelling App with the MGL Tez app, allowing commercial vehicle owners to pre-schedule refueling slots at participating depots, reducing wait times and improving efficiency.

Incentives That Drive Change

Fleet operators enrolling in the program during MGL CNG Mahotsav 2.0 can take advantage of a variety of incentives. Rewards will vary depending on the type and tonnage of commercial vehicles, offering substantial savings and further encouraging the switch to CNG. Operators can redeem their MGL Fuel Cards for free CNG at designated stations during the promotional period.

Impacting Urban Air Quality

This initiative is not just about economic benefits; it’s a step toward addressing the environmental challenges posed by urban pollution. By promoting CNG, MGL and Nawgati aim to reduce vehicular emissions, contributing to improved air quality and setting a benchmark for eco-friendly fleet management.

A Roadmap for the Future

Through this partnership, MGL and Nawgati are setting the stage for a larger transition to sustainable transportation solutions. By leveraging technology and creating user-friendly systems, the initiative underscores a shared commitment to innovation, efficiency, and environmental stewardship.

As the CNG ecosystem grows stronger, the collaboration between MGL and Nawgati serves as a model for public-private partnerships aimed at building a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable future for urban India.
