New Delhi — In a significant step to enhance vehicle safety, Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL) has widened its voluntary campaign to replace potentially faulty fuel pumps in 90,468 of its older vehicles across India. The extended campaign will now also include an additional 2,204 units in which fuel pump replacements were previously performed as spare parts.
Honda stated that the identified fuel pumps may contain defective impellers, which could lead to engine issues like unexpected stalling or failure to start over time. To address these concerns, HCIL will offer the replacements at no cost to customers, beginning November 5, 2024, across authorized Honda dealerships nationwide. Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted individually to schedule their appointments.
Honda has set up a dedicated microsite on its website (www.hondacarindia.com), where customers can easily verify if their vehicle is eligible for the replacement by entering their 17-character Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). Additionally, those who purchased fuel pump assemblies from Honda dealerships between June 2017 and October 2023 are encouraged to check for eligibility, even if the parts were acquired over-the-counter.
This campaign reflects HCIL’s proactive approach to maintaining its commitment to customer safety and product quality.
