BMW Group India Surges Ahead with Record-Breaking Sales and Electric Mobility Leadership

BMW Group India is racing towards an unprecedented year, reporting its highest-ever year-to-date (YTD) car sales through the third quarter of 2024. A combined total of 10,556 units, representing both BMW and MINI brands, marked a remarkable 10% growth in the first nine months of the year. Leading the charge are the company’s luxurious long-wheelbase models, a segment where BMW dominates with its popular BMW 3 Series, BMW 5 Series, and BMW 7 Series.

Long Wheelbase Models Drive Success
The long-wheelbase versions of BMW’s sedans are proving irresistible to Indian customers. The BMW 5 Series, in particular, has made a significant impact this festive season, with over 300 deliveries and a growing order book exceeding 600 units. The longer versions of the BMW 3 Series and 7 Series are also driving growth, catering to the Indian market’s demand for increased space and comfort in premium vehicles.

BMW’s flagship luxury models—the BMW 7 Series, the fully electric BMW i7, and the robust BMW X7—continue to affirm the brand’s exclusivity. Collectively, these models contributed 17% of BMW’s total sales, underscoring their popularity among the country’s elite.

Electric Mobility Leads the Way
In the luxury electric vehicle segment, BMW has further cemented its leadership. With the widest portfolio in the market, BMW Group India delivered 725 fully electric vehicles in the first three quarters of 2024, led by the all-electric BMW i7, which has become the company’s top-selling EV.

BMW Group India has now surpassed the significant milestone of 2,000 EV deliveries, positioning itself as the first luxury automaker in the country to achieve this feat. The BMW iX, in particular, remains the most popular luxury EV in India, with over 1,000 units sold to date.

The company’s comprehensive approach to electric mobility is not limited to just products. BMW Group India has established one of the largest fast-charging networks across 51 cities, offering customers a seamless charging experience. Additional services like complimentary home chargers, destination charging, and smart E-routing have further enhanced customer confidence in BMW’s electric offerings.

Robust Overall Sales Across Segments
BMW’s Sports Activity Vehicles (SAVs) continue to be a key driver of growth, contributing 55% of total sales. The BMW X1, in particular, stands out in the Luxury Compact SAV segment, accounting for 20% of overall sales. Meanwhile, the BMW 3 Series sedan retains its position as the highest-selling sedan, contributing 19% of total sales.

BMW Group India’s success extends beyond just product offerings. Innovative finance options, such as the BMW and MINI 360° finance plans, have made luxury more accessible to customers. These plans offer flexible terms, low monthly payments, and assured buy-back options, making it easier for customers to upgrade to a new vehicle.

With a combination of robust product offerings, leadership in electric mobility, and an ever-expanding customer base, BMW Group India is setting new benchmarks in the luxury automotive market, positioning itself as a dominant player for the future.
