BMW Group Reports Robust Growth in Electric and Premium Segments for H1 2024

BMW Group has announced a significant increase in sales of its fully-electric vehicles and upper premium segment models for the first half of 2024. The company delivered 179,557 fully electric BMW vehicles, marking a 34.1% rise compared to the same period last year. Overall, the BMW brand saw a 2.3% increase in global sales, totaling 1,096,486 units.

The BMW Group, encompassing BMW, MINI, and Rolls-Royce brands, reported total deliveries of 1,213,359 vehicles worldwide in the first half of 2024. This performance underscores BMW’s expanding market share, especially in Europe and North America.

“In the first six months of the year, we saw double-digit growth of our fully-electric vehicles and models from the upper premium segment,” said Jochen Goller, BMW AG Board Member for Customer, Brands, Sales. “Despite a challenging market environment, we increased sales for the BMW brand in the first half of the year, thanks to our attractive product portfolio. The strong commitment of our BMW Group employees and our robust global retail network have made a significant contribution in this regard,” Goller added.

The upper premium segment models have gained traction, with the BMW 7 Series achieving a 22% sales increase year-on-year. Additionally, the BMW X1 and BMW 3 Series also recorded robust growth. BMW M GmbH saw notable success, especially with the launch of the first electrified high-performance M5 sedan in June, contributing to a 5.1% sales growth with 99,517 units sold.

MINI brand delivered 114,054 vehicles in the first half of 2024, bolstered by the positive reception of the new MINI Cooper. The forthcoming launches of the MINI Countryman and MINI Aceman are expected to drive further growth in the second half of the year.

Rolls-Royce reported the delivery of 2,819 motor cars, with the Rolls-Royce Cullinan Series II being a standout performer. BMW Motorrad also had a strong first half, delivering 113,072 motorcycles and scooters globally.

Looking ahead, BMW Group is optimistic about the second half of 2024, with expectations driven by the full availability of new models such as the BMW 5 Series and BMW i5 Touring, alongside the ongoing launch of the New MINI Family. The company remains committed to offering a diverse range of drive train technologies to cater to varying customer preferences worldwide.

The figures reported are provisional and subject to final confirmation upon the release of the BMW Group Report 2024. For detailed notes on the preparation of delivery figures, refer to the BMW Group Report 2023, page 330.
