Mumbai: BMW Group India, in partnership with Navnit Motors, has inaugurated India’s largest BMW service workshop in Andheri East, Mumbai. Spread across approximately 115,000 square feet, the new facility features 53 service bays, electric vehicle servicing infrastructure, advanced diagnostic equipment and digitally connected customer services, marking a significant expansion of the German luxury carmaker’s aftersales operations in India.
Developed according to BMW’s Retail.Next standards, the workshop is designed to accommodate conventional and electric vehicles while improving service efficiency and customer convenience. The facility also marks 30 years of partnership between BMW Group and Navnit Motors.
Located at X-23, MIDC Central Road, Hanuman Nagar, Andheri East, Mumbai, the workshop is among the country’s largest automotive service facilities, according to BMW Group India.

53 Service Bays Under One Roof
The new workshop accommodates 53 dedicated bays, divided into six service consultation bays, three diagnostic bays, 21 mechanical and electrical bays, and 23 body and paint bays.
Its layout incorporates streamlined vehicle movement, modern equipment and specialised workstations intended to reduce service turnaround times. BMW-certified technicians and high-voltage specialists will handle maintenance and repairs, including work on electric vehicles.
The facility includes dedicated EV servicing infrastructure and advanced diagnostic systems designed to support BMW’s expanding range of vehicle technologies.
For customers, the workshop provides a dedicated service consultation area, a customer lounge and a separate chauffeur lounge.
BMW M enthusiasts also get a dedicated BMW M Zone showcasing M Performance Parts and Accessories. An additional collection of BMW Accessories and Lifestyle products offers further personalisation options.
BMW Places Aftersales at the Centre of Its India Strategy
Hardeep Singh Brar, President and CEO, BMW Group India, highlighted the importance of maintaining customer relationships beyond the initial vehicle purchase.
“Customer experience does not end with the purchase of a BMW, it continues throughout the ownership journey. With Navnit Motors, we have established one of India’s largest automotive service workshops and the country’s largest BMW service workshop facility, bringing together scale, digital innovation, sustainability and future-ready expertise under one roof. It is a significant expression of our ‘Relax. We Care.’ promise and our commitment to making BMW ownership effortless, transparent and rewarding.”
Ralf Hattler, Senior Vice President Customer Support and Aftersales, BMW Group, said the company’s service strategy is evolving alongside changes in automotive technology.
“Aftersales is a strategic pillar of the BMW Group’s long-term relationship with its customers. As mobility evolves, our focus is to build a service ecosystem that is ready for every drivetrain, intelligently connected and consistently centred on individual customer needs. The new Retail.Next service workshop in Mumbai translates this global ambition into a powerful local reality – combining scale, specialist competence and responsible operations to safeguard vehicle performance. For our customers, this means peace of mind: knowing that BMW is always by your side and keeps you mobile throughout the entire ownership journey.”
Digital Service Tracking Aims to Improve Transparency
A major component of the new facility is the integration of digital tools into the service process.
Through the MyBMW App, customers can schedule, modify and manage workshop appointments without relying entirely on conventional telephone-based bookings.
BMW’s Personalized Service Video feature allows technicians to explain recommended repairs through video, helping customers understand the work required before authorising it. Customers can review, approve and pay for services online.
The company describes the video service as a first-in-segment offering.
An end-to-end digital vehicle tracking system also provides real-time visibility of a vehicle’s progress, from its arrival at the workshop through servicing and final delivery.
The approach is intended to make workshop visits more transparent, particularly when repairs involve technical explanations that might otherwise require an engineering degree to decipher.
Solar Energy, Water Recycling and Waste Management
Sustainability is another focus of the Mumbai workshop, with BMW incorporating solar power generation, rainwater harvesting, water recycling and energy-efficient infrastructure.
According to the company, solar energy supplies approximately 20% of the facility’s electricity requirements, while 100% of the water used for car washing is recycled.
BMW also states that the facility follows a 100% zero-waste approach for solid and toxic waste and is a member of a solid waste management authority.
These measures are intended to reduce the environmental impact of operating a large-scale automotive service facility, where electricity consumption, water usage and waste disposal are important operational considerations.
Navnit Motors Marks 30 Years of Partnership With BMW
The inauguration also represents a milestone for Navnit Motors, which is celebrating three decades of association with BMW Group.
Krishna Kachalia, Dealer Principal, Navnit Motors, said, “As we celebrate 30 years of a strong and enduring partnership with the BMW Group, this landmark facility is a significant milestone in our shared journey. Our deep understanding of Mumbai and the evolving needs of BMW customers have shaped our vision to create this world-class service facility. As the largest BMW service workshop, it reflects our commitment to setting new benchmarks in aftersales excellence. With significantly enhanced service capacity, advanced diagnostic systems, dedicated EV facilities, connected service technologies and highly skilled specialists, the facility combines scale with precision and personalised care for BMW customers across Mumbai.”
The expanded facility is expected to support increasing service demand across Mumbai, particularly as luxury vehicles incorporate more sophisticated electronics, connected technologies and electrified drivetrains.
BMW’s ‘Relax. We Care.’ Aftersales Programme
The new workshop forms part of BMW’s broader aftersales strategy, built around its ‘Relax. We Care.’ service promise.
BMW’s Proactive Care system aims to identify potential maintenance requirements at an early stage, while Condition Based Service monitors vehicle data to alert owners when servicing is required.
The company also offers BMW Service Inclusive packages to help customers plan maintenance expenses.
Depending on the applicable package, these cover routine maintenance, vehicle checks, engine oil servicing and top-ups, along with servicing or replacement of filters, spark plugs and brake fluid.
BMW Original Parts are designed and tested to meet the manufacturer’s specifications for fit, performance, reliability and safety.
Across India, BMW currently operates 56 service workshops, covering major metropolitan markets as well as Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities.
The opening of the Mumbai facility reflects a broader shift in the luxury automotive sector, where aftersales infrastructure is becoming increasingly important as vehicles grow more technologically complex. For BMW, the investment goes beyond adding workshop capacity: it is also about ensuring that the service network can support electric mobility, connected vehicles and changing customer expectations throughout the ownership experience.
