Yokohama India Launches Made-in-India Geolandar A/T With White-Letter Sidewalls

New Delhi: Yokohama India has introduced a locally manufactured version of its Geolandar A/T tyre with Outline White Letter styling, expanding its offering for SUV and utility vehicle owners in India.

The Made-in-India Geolandar A/T is currently available in a 15-inch specification, with the white-letter treatment designed to give the tyre a more distinctive sidewall appearance while retaining the rugged visual character associated with all-terrain tyres.

Yokohama said the 15-inch Geolandar A/T is suitable for a range of SUVs and utility vehicles, including the Maruti Suzuki Jimny and Mahindra Bolero.

The addition of contrasting white lettering is primarily a styling update, giving owners another option to personalise the appearance of their vehicles. It is a relatively small detail, perhaps, but one that tends to stand out rather effectively when surrounded by black rubber and muddy wheel arches.

The development also marks a shift in how the Geolandar A/T reaches the Indian market. The tyre was previously imported into the country but is now being manufactured at Yokohama India’s facility in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.

Commenting on the introduction, Gaurav Mahajan, Head of Marketing and OE Sales, Yokohama India, said, “For today’s SUV owner, driving is increasingly part of a broader motoring lifestyle, where the vehicle reflects a sense of individuality, adventure and personal expression. The Geolandar A/T is designed to complement that mindset, bringing a more distinctive and rugged character to the vehicle. It is for enthusiasts who see their SUV as more than a means of getting from one place to another, and want every element of it to reflect their passion for the road and the lifestyle that comes with it.”

The Outline White Letter version of the 15-inch Geolandar A/T is currently being offered in two sizes.

Yokohama India is also planning to broaden the locally manufactured range, with 16-inch to 18-inch Geolandar A/T sizes under consideration for introduction in 2027.

Local production could give Yokohama greater flexibility in serving India’s expanding SUV and utility vehicle market, while the planned addition of larger sizes would widen the number of vehicles that can use the tyre.

For Yokohama, the localisation of the Geolandar A/T is therefore more than a cosmetic exercise. It combines domestic manufacturing with a growing appetite among Indian SUV owners for tyres that serve both a functional role and, increasingly, a visual one.
