Mumbai: Volkswagen India has launched a limited-volume Virtus Anniversary Edition, marking four years of the premium sedan in the Indian market. Based on the Virtus GT Plus Sport, the special edition is priced at ₹19,19,900 ex-showroom and introduces an exclusive Avocado Pearl exterior colour paired with a contrasting black roof.
The Anniversary Edition will be available in limited numbers through Volkswagen dealerships across India. Its most visible distinction is the new paint scheme, complemented by black alloy wheels, giving the sedan a noticeably darker and sportier appearance without altering the underlying GT Plus Sport formula.
Volkswagen says the edition has been introduced to commemorate the Virtus’ journey since its Indian launch in June 2022 and the model’s performance in the country’s premium sedan segment.
Commenting on the announcement, Nitin Kohli, Brand Director, Volkswagen India, said, “Virtus has earned strong customer appreciation for its design, performance and German engineering. The Anniversary Edition celebrates that journey and the passion our customers have shown for the brand. With the exclusive Avocado Pearl colour, the Anniversary Edition of the Virtus enhances the desirability of this sedan.”

Based on the Virtus GT Plus Sport
Mechanically, the Anniversary Edition continues with the specifications of the Virtus GT Plus Sport.
It is powered by Volkswagen’s 1.5-litre TSI Evo petrol engine, producing 150 PS of power and 250 Nm of torque, paired with a 7-speed DSG transmission.
The GT Plus Sport equipment list includes a 20.32 cm Digital Cockpit, electric sunroof, Laser Red ambient lighting, aluminium pedals, automatic headlights, rain-sensing wipers and an auto-dimming inside rear-view mirror, among other features.
While anniversary editions sometimes amount to little more than a badge and a birthday cake, Volkswagen has chosen paintwork as the Virtus’ main party trick here, with Avocado Pearl making its debut on the model.
Six Airbags and 5-Star Global NCAP Rating
Volkswagen continues to emphasise safety as one of the Virtus’ key attributes. The sedan comes with six airbags as standard and carries a 5-star Global NCAP safety rating.
According to the company, the Virtus is equipped with more than 40 safety features.
Volkswagen is also offering additional Genuine Accessories that can be fitted at dealerships for both the Virtus and Taigun, including a 360-degree camera system, front parking sensors and puddle lamps.
Virtus Completes Four Years in India
The Volkswagen Virtus was launched in India in June 2022 and has since become an important part of the company’s passenger vehicle line-up. Volkswagen describes it as India’s most preferred premium sedan, while positioning the model around performance, safety, driving dynamics and German engineering.
The Anniversary Edition does not introduce major mechanical changes, instead using a distinctive colour combination and limited availability to differentiate it from the regular GT Plus Sport.
Priced at ₹19,19,900 ex-showroom, the Volkswagen Virtus Anniversary Edition will be sold in limited numbers across the company’s dealership network in India.
Four years after its launch, Volkswagen’s decision to commemorate the Virtus with another special edition also underlines the continuing relevance of sedans in a market increasingly dominated by SUVs. For buyers who still prefer a low-slung three-box shape, the Virtus Anniversary Edition offers something increasingly unusual in today’s market: a sedan celebrating a birthday rather than making way for yet another SUV.
