Mumbai: Ferrari has introduced the new Amalfi Spider in India through a series of exclusive showcases in Mumbai, New Delhi and Bengaluru, marking the Italian marque’s first regional launch of the model in the country.
The front-mid-engined 2+ convertible is being presented to customers and automotive enthusiasts through private gatherings offering a closer look at its engineering, performance and design. The India programme began in Mumbai, where the first event was hosted by Navnit Motors, Ferrari’s official distributor in the city.
The regional launch will continue with events in Bengaluru and New Delhi, organised by Select Cars, Ferrari’s official distributor for both markets. Ferrari said the multi-city programme reflects its effort to strengthen its presence in India and build closer ties with the country’s community of performance-car enthusiasts.
640 hp twin-turbocharged V8
The Amalfi Spider is powered by a front-mid-mounted, twin-turbocharged V8 engine producing 640 hp. Ferrari has positioned the model as an open-top grand tourer combining high performance with everyday comfort and practicality.
Its 2+ seating arrangement includes rear seats that can accommodate children or provide additional storage space. That may not make it a family hatchback, but by supercar standards, it is a meaningful nod to practicality.
The cabin follows a dual-cockpit layout and features an updated driver–car interface. Notable elements include a steering wheel with physical controls, the return of Ferrari’s signature engine-start button and an integrated central display.
The controls have been designed for intuitive operation during spirited driving, while an electrically operated wind deflector integrated into the rear bench backrest helps reduce turbulence when the roof is lowered.
Soft top opens in 13.5 seconds
The fabric soft top can be opened or closed in 13.5 seconds and operated while the vehicle is moving at speeds of up to 60 km/h.
When folded, the roof occupies a space measuring just 220 mm in thickness. The boot offers 255 litres of luggage capacity with the roof closed and 172 litres when it is open, giving the Amalfi Spider enough flexibility for daily journeys and weekend trips — provided the luggage is packed with Ferrari-like precision.
The five-layer fabric roof is designed to provide acoustic and thermal insulation comparable to that of a Ferrari retractable hard top.
Customers can choose from four tailor-made fabric colours and two technical-fabric options, including the new Tecnico Ottanio finish. Contrast stitching is also available, while the weave of the technical fabric creates a shimmering, three-dimensional appearance.
Design retains Amalfi proportions
Ferrari said the Spider was designed to preserve the proportions and flowing silhouette of the Amalfi despite the structural and packaging requirements of an open-top vehicle.
Its styling follows a minimalist approach, using clean surfaces and sculpted volumes to create a modern appearance. The front is characterised by a large air intake and a long bonnet covering the V8 engine.
At the rear, an integrated active spoiler is intended to improve stability at higher speeds. Forged wheels and available carbon-fibre components add to the model’s performance-oriented appearance.
With the Amalfi Spider’s three-city presentation, Ferrari is placing greater emphasis on engaging customers beyond a single launch venue. The approach also underlines the growing importance of India’s luxury-performance car market, where buyers increasingly expect not only speed and exclusivity, but enough usability to enjoy both beyond the occasional Sunday drive.
