Green SM Enters India With All-Electric Limo Taxi Service, Delhi-NCR First on the Route Map

New Delhi: Vietnam-based electric mobility company Green SM has officially entered the Indian market with the launch of Green SM Limo, a fully electric taxi service that will initially operate across key parts of the Delhi National Capital Region.

The India launch, held in New Delhi on World Environment Day, makes the country Green SM’s fifth international market after Vietnam, Laos, Indonesia and the Philippines. The timing was clearly not accidental; if there was ever a day to introduce silent, zero-tailpipe-emission taxis to Delhi-NCR, World Environment Day would be the most polite calendar reminder possible.

The launch ceremony was attended by Rao Narbir Singh, Haryana Minister for Industries and Commerce; Environment, Forest and Wildlife; Foreign Cooperation; and Sainik and Ardh Sainik Welfare, along with Dr Virinder Sharma, Vice President, Commission for Air Quality Management. Representatives from Indian government agencies, the Embassy of Vietnam in India and several strategic partners from the automotive, transport, energy, finance, infrastructure and technology sectors were also present.

Green SM said its India entry is aimed at offering customers a safe, reliable and high-quality mobility option while supporting cleaner urban transport. The company also expects the service to create employment and career development opportunities for local drivers.

In its first phase, Green SM Limo will operate in selected areas of Delhi-NCR before expanding gradually based on demand. The service will use the VinFast Limo Green, a seven-seater fully electric SUV designed specifically for premium passenger transport. The vehicle is aimed at multiple use cases, including daily commutes, family travel, airport transfers and business movement.

To make the ride experience more comfortable, Green SM Limo vehicles will come equipped with drinking water, wet tissues and other basic amenities. Because apparently, the future of mobility is not just electric — it is also hydrated.

Safety is another major focus area for the company. Each Green SM Limo will feature the Secure-to-Safe system, including interior and exterior cameras, AI-powered technology and emergency support buttons for both passengers and drivers.

The company said every ride will be handled by professionally trained Green Drivers, who are trained in electric vehicle operations, road safety and customer service. Green SM said its drivers are expected to represent the company’s core values of safety, dedication, professionalism, honesty and responsibility.

The service will operate under the company’s “Ride 5 Star” commitment, which focuses on vehicle quality, safety standards, driver professionalism and customer experience. The idea is to make every journey feel more comfortable, secure and memorable — or at least more peaceful than the average rush-hour argument at a Delhi traffic signal.

Customers can book Green SM Limo through the Green SM app, available on the App Store and Google Play, through the company hotline, or by hailing a vehicle directly in Green SM operating areas. As part of the launch offer, customers booking rides through the app between June 5 and June 11 can avail a 50% discount up to ₹250.

At the event, Green SM also welcomed five local partners from mobility, travel, technology and service sectors into the Green Alliance Frontier, its global platform for businesses working toward sustainable development and green transformation.

Speaking at the launch, Nguyen Van Thanh, GSM Global CEO, said India is one of the most important mobility markets in the world, with its scale, rapid growth and innovation creating strong opportunities for green transportation.

“India is one of the most important mobility markets in the world. Its scale, rapid growth, and strong spirit of innovation are opening up many opportunities for the future of green transportation. We come to India with respect for the market, confidence in its long-term potential, and a commitment to working closely with local partners,” he said.

He added that Green SM hopes to bring high-quality fully electric rides to Indian customers while contributing to wider access to safe, reliable and sustainable mobility choices.

“We believe trust is the most important foundation for long-term growth. This is also what Green SM hopes to build with customers, partners, and communities in India in the years ahead,” Thanh said.

Founded in Vietnam in 2023, Green SM currently operates a fully electric mobility ecosystem across Vietnam, Laos, Indonesia, the Philippines and now India. With its entry into Delhi-NCR, the company joins India’s rapidly evolving urban mobility space at a time when electric vehicle adoption, clean transport and app-based taxi services are all moving from niche conversations to everyday reality.

For Delhi-NCR passengers, Green SM Limo promises a quieter, cleaner and more premium taxi option. And for the city’s air, which has had a long and complicated relationship with exhaust pipes, that may be a welcome new passenger in itself.
